Duration:
1.5 hours

Meeting Point:

Enter Kowen Forest by turning right into Kowen Rd as you travel up Sutton Rd -the signposted turnoff is 1.2 kms from the Junction of Pialligo Av & Sutton Rd (Queanbeyan).

Follow Kowen Rd. up for approx 5 kms from the large metal gates on Kowen Rd – the gates will be open & manned from 7:45 AM onwards. Kowen Rd. is mainly gravel & has been repaired & is suitable for ordinary cars – but remember that there is a 40 KPH limit, so drive with care. When you are leaving after the race, remember to follow the exit direction sign down Quarry Rd - one way traffic downhill ; incoming traffic is one way up the bitumen from the gate . Dont sneak down the bitumen against possible traffic , as the entry gate will be closed by then.

The course is 7.2 kms in length & will marked & open for a practice lap from 8 AM ; rego from 8:30 AM , trophy presentation for the ‘08/’09 XC Series placegetters will be held around 9:15 AM ; racing will kick off as soon as we get through the presentation.

RACE FORMAT INFORMATION FOR NEW RIDERS.

The course is 7.2 kms for Sunday morning club XC races. Different categories compete over various numbers of laps of this course, ranging from 5 laps for the Senior Men down to 2 laps for Sport D Men & others. There are 17 categories for riders to enter , based on sex, age or ability . We trust riders to enter their appropriate & correct category, but the registration crew can advise you if you are not too sure about what to do. Middle level riders should expect to lap the course in approx. 22 - 26 mins. There is a sign listing all the categories on display at race rego. The course is open to ride after 8 AM Sunday, so if you want to, you can do a lap before deciding which category you want to ride in. Registration is open between 8:30 - 9:30 AM.

We start the Senior Men ( 5 laps ) & Sport A Men ( 5 laps) together as close to 9:30 AM as we can ; then we start the remaining categories in quick succession, working down from the 4 lap riders to the 2 lap group. So the plan is to have all riders out on the course by around 10 AM. The post race "story session " & socialising are a feature of our races - usually all riders have finished by around 11:30 AM
