I will be there but not until about 8.00 pm so will leave my name off the list but I will see if I can catch you guys.
happy to start at 8:00 if everyone else is OK with that. Post aye or nay if you're on the list already and I'll change in the am.
Nick.
Its ok dont change it just for me.
There may be some riders from "the land of the banned" making guest appearances...
I have 2 non nobmob mates coming along to try their first nite-ride too.
Should be a nice ride, we may want to go up the pipeline to avoid the mess and mud on the fire trail behind Allambie.
So Nick are you going to enforce the rider limit with an iron fist?
Why?
Rumours from you are often rumoured to be true!
how wet is the dam? does anyone know?
Yo, first section from Manly Vale public is wet still, never remember this section being so bad, top section by golf course all good, have been avoiding rock garden section and going on to pkway though, Allambie side not bad they have addeda lot of soil so not wet but very slow, should get better as it beds in.

Did a lap last night,
Lots of standing water at start and up the back on allambie side.
I don't think my bike has ever been as muddy after a ride.
If it was my track, Ide have it closed until atleast the weekend.
I dont ride my bike, my bike rides me... we are currently in counseling...
So what's the call Nick? It still sounds pretty messy.
No ride for me another week of sunny dry days and it should be ok what are the chances.
I'm riding somewhere tonight no matter what.
Is anyone up for moving it to Terrey Hills, or else we avoid/walk the muddy bits.
Nick.
I don't think that is a wise move...
I went to take a look at the Dam on Sunday and can confirm that it's in absolute terrible condition. It's dying not drying and despite its 'open' status I would not recommend anyone ride there at all. I'm not going back up there for another look for at least 2 weeks. I was horrified to see large groups of riders going around.
IMHO The sooner the rangers (or ourselves) put up more convincing signage to inform riders or those who have travelled far not to ride the trail the better.
We need to give it time to recover. At the moment it's simply not getting it.
So Instead I took a drive up to to Terrey Hills and did Duck Holes, Warratah and Centre tracks and can say that they are in great shape and perfectly rideable.
Sorry everyone. It appears that best advice is to leave the dam alone for another week, so if you still want to come along I've moved this to Terrey Hills.
At least we can still be social?
Nick.
Njoy all, cant do Tezza Hills.
Would be nice to get back to the tav in time for a feed.
Guys,
You can't go changing rides so close to the time, turned up at Manly Dam last night after checking the status at lunch time & to my surprise there was one other person there equally bemused.
He rang his wife, she checked the website & the rides been changed. Did the ride any way & it was fine. A bit of running water around the school across sand (no biggie) & a few standing puddles through the golf cousre rocks & rock garden.
Interesting changes on a few sections especially at night.
Please make the call earlier next time.
Hanno, I'm sorry, but with all the discussion and scrutiny regarding trail access, and our treatment of the trails we do have, I couldn't proceed with the ride at the dam. All information from riders who had been through in the last two days, added to my first hand experience on the weekend was enough to make me relocate the ride.
I did text everyone who's number I had to hand.
Rob mentioned an SMS alert service the other day. Not sure if it is do-able but I suppose that would help in situations like this.
Rob, is it possible to set up so a ride poster can get the public email or mobile phone numbers for all signed up riders easily? Then when a ride needs to be cancelled or rescheduled, the poster can quickly contact all concerned.
Sorry again Hanno
Rightfully upset.. that must've been a bummer at the Dam on your own...
Glad to here there was another bemused person for you to ride with... Good news about the Dam tho!
riding the dam on his own - he called one night after a lap and said it was 'creepy'!
