how do i know when my pads need to be replaced? can i measure the pad thickness? if so, how much is enough?
When i replace pads, should i go for organic, ceramic or sintered?
what brands of pads should i look at?

I have Avid Juicy 7 carbons with 8" rotors

not to shore on when to replace them but i looked around and found a pair that i'm pretty shore will fit the your brake caliper

or you can just go down to your local bike shop and talk to them about when to replace them and they will most likely have the brake pads you will need

you will be able to see when the pads are just about worn out. Some time you will also hear the spring clips rubbing (more so on hayes type pads)

The organic pads will give a better bite and feel more powerful but wear out quicker

The sintered will last longer but not bite as well

I haven't actually tried the ceramics yet so can' comment on them

I just put some Serfas Metals in my XT brakes and I'm really happy with them.
