Woo hoo - no technical problems

After little training and illness I wasn't sure what to expect. The day seemed pretty warm when Chitts and I lined up for the start and I wasnt feeling 100% so I thought that the best strategy was to try to keep my heart rate at around 160bpm which I know seems to be about the right level for a race situation.

A guilty yet happy Fling

Yes, that's right... almost six and half hours for the Half Fling!

You knew this was going to be a relaxing ride as I spun across the parking paddock from the car not long after Huw had counted down the start for Half Flingers and Elites and most of them were well on their way. There had been a slight delay as was helping the guy parked next to use out with his brakes but no damage done as I managed to find Pratiwi on the line and saunter over at the back of the grid. And that was pretty much where we'd stay for the rest of the 'race'.

Accomodation available for Highland Fling

Hi

Do you and your family need accommodation for the Highland Fling?

We have hired out the Bundanoon Youth Hostel and one room (sleeping up to 6 people) has become available. You'll be joining 9 other families, this is the 3rd year we've done this, and you'll be sure to have a great time.

Cost is $310 per room or per family. That's for 3 nights Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. We've got plenty of activities planned for the kids.

If you're keen call me on 0403 816 666 ASAP.

We expect this will be snapped up so be quick.

Cheers

Highland Fling Full Fling Ticket Up For Sale

I have 1 full fling ticket up for sale.

Two weekends ago I ran 150k over 4 days to raise funds for a school for Autism in Gladesville NSW and during this I aggravated an already exsisting injury which will now take me out of the fling this year. I know I shouldn't have run but that event is very important to me as I have completed it for the last 4 years and i would have to have a leg fall off for me not to do it. I had hoped for this injury to come good but it's a bit more than what I thought and I'll be out for a couple of months now.

Heading down to Wingello for the weekend in preparation for a couple of upcoming rides. Going to make a weekend out of and bring the tent for a spot of camping.

Planning on riding both days, the pace won't be super-fast.

Feel free to come along for either or both days.
Riding on Day 2 will start a little earlier. (Probably 8am'ish)

I will also be bringing my GF as she is keen to ride some of the other trails around the place, so consider this a WAG friendly weekend of riding out of the city.

Three flats!

After a cold night in the tent and then a long queue for the toilets Chitts and I finally arrived at the start line at about 7.20am and were well back in the pack. When I finally got over the start line and got moving, I started to work through the pack towards the front but there seemed like a lot of slower riders that were in front of me and there were numerous traffic jams for no obvious reason. Cruised into the first transition feeling great at about 1 hour 26 minute having passed large numbers of riders, average heart rate was in the 140s and average speed up around 20km/h.
