Wingello State Forest
At a Glance
Large (1,200+ ha) State forest with the usual firetrails spread across it, but with more hills than (sort of) neighbouring Penrose State Forest make it a bit more fun. Gets rated as just 2 blown lungs because you can take things real easy in here.
Just past the village store on Railway parade, turn left onto Forest road. Follow this for 4km until you reach the clearing with trailhead map, toilet and concrete slab.
There are 3 loops round the forest, a red 23km loop that has all the singletrack and just over 500m climbing. A yellow 11km loop which is all firetrail and is good for hill climb training and lastly the blue loop which is a beginner loop which is also firetrail.
All trails are well marked and are easy to follow.
There is a long drop toilet at the trail head but that's all so bring water and food with you. The Village store at the end of Forest road does do a nice coffee and good food I'm told so maybe worth calling in.
