Port to Port
I am doing a new event end of May called Port to Port, it's a 4 day ride starting at Port Stephens and ending at Nobbys beach Newcastle. Unfortunately I can only do the last 2 days, Sat - Briar Ridge Winery to Richmond Vale (60km), Sun - Cams Warf to Nobby's Beach (45km). I have not done any rides in these areas, can anyone shed some light on what I might expect?

Great Cycle Challenge Oct 2013
Hello
Just wondering if anyone else is doing the Great Cycle Challenge next month?
https://greatcyclechallenge.com.au/Pages/About
I've pledged to ride 1000km for the month and to kick it off I'm going to try and ride 100km at Ourimbah next Tue, so if anyone has the time and they feel like keeping me company over a lap of two, pop on up/down.
Cheers
Geoff

Rotorua
With the young bloke doing the HSC next year, the next school hols might be the last chance we have for awhile to do something great together, so I've floated the idea of a trip to Rotovegas for a week.
We're both more of the cross country persuasion than DH or AM.
Looking for ideas and suggestions for tour companies/guides, places to stay and occasional things to do off-bike to break it up.
I'd imagine we need to book quickly to secure a place.
Also, would you recommend takind (and risking) your own bike, or hiring over there?

An article giving some insight to the economic benefits of MTB events. Some interesting insights to the demographics of mtb participants at these events also.

There's no such thing as bad weather...
... only the wrong clothes, according to a certain Scotsman.
Looks like my missus is keen for me to test the theory so she has an excuse to go on a trip to Scotland! She's going "Do you wanna do this? :)" and showing me photos like this, before pointing me to the Strathpuffer 24:

2013 Absa Cape Epic
Just a reminder for those interested the Absa Cape Epic starts today.
Being the 10th anniversary of the event, and the number of pro teams entered this year, it is sure to be an exciting event.
Sauser & Kulhavy will be very hard to beat, especially as they are riding in memory of the late Burry Stander.
Clean Up Australia Day - St Ives Single Track
Hi,
I'm sure many of you ride the St Ives Single track and will have noticed the incredible amount of rubbish scattered through the bush there - especially at the Wildflower Gardens end.
I'm organising a Clean Up Australia Day site for this area and would be grateful for as much help as we can get. It's a great cause, will benefit us all and the community looking after our beautiful bush land.
Date: Sunday 3rd March from 8am.

Hope to see you along if you can assist (even for an hour).
