Quarry Road Track: The famous waterbar punctuated descent
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
End of Stewart Ave, Hornsby
This ride quite literally has its ups and downs. The upside is the great downhill blasts on either side of the creek, but of course, what goes down must go back up
But despite this, you'll get your fitness workout, as well as have some great views of Berowra Valley Regional Park, as well as see the grand old bridge at the bottom.
Won't go to much more detal - just look at the description of the track on the site... it says all you need to know.
BE WARNED: YOU NEED A GOOD DEGREE OF FITNESS TO ENJOY THIS TRACK!!
But once you can do the uphills, it's all great fun

A Dam Good Ride
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
I haven't done this ride before, so am hoping someone might be off work/school that day (I'm trying to clock up my hours on the bike before I start year 12 the week after).
I've heard it's badly signposted, so I need someone who knows the track well to show me the way... I want to do this at a farily rapid pace, but not at breakneck speed, since I don't know this track yet. Hoping to do two or three laps to familiarize myself with it.
*NOTE THAT THE TIME OF THE RIDE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS I BECOME MORE INFORMED OF THE PREDICTED WEATHER - I DON'T WANT TO BE RIDING IN HOT WEATHER.

Berowra Firetrail
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Corner of The Gully Road and Berowra Waters Road
SADLY, THE WEATHER IS TOO UNPLEASANT AS OF SUNDAY NIGHT, AND SEEING AS THE TRACKS DON'T WEATHER WELL (AS IN, GET FULL OF PUDDLES), I'M GOING TO HAVE TO POSPONE IT TO ANOTHER DAY
If you went with me a couple of weeks ago, it's the same as what we did then.

Oxford Falls (Morgan Road) update for 28 Sep
The downhill section is completely dry, the rest of the tracks in the area should be very similar if they dont have a lot of shade

Newbie needs help deciding on bike - current options listed
Hi all,
I'm just getting started with trail riding but love it so far. I'd really like to buy my own bike. I'm female, 170cm tall and was wondering what people thought of a few bikes I'm currently interested in. I'm a student - so i'd like a bike under ~1k. Currently considering:
2009 Giant Talon (need to save a little more for this one)

2009 Giant Yukon

2009 GT Chucker 1

Backyamma Bigfoot
Just a quick one to say that I thought the Bigfoot was a fun ride & I will be back to do it again next year. I did the 50k, it was fairly flat & scenic but there was plenty of great single track. There was a girl that got t-boned by a roo about 10k's in who didn't look too well. I bet that there's not too many people that could say that they have been taken out like this while out for ride! [hope she's ok] A great, local community effort. Well done guys!

Bike computer
I've been using my iPhone with MotionX GPS to track my rides although it's not giving me what I want... And I've scratched my shiny new iPhone 4... Grrr
Anyway looking to get a bike computer. I'm very keen to get something with GPS that can map my rides. Apart from that want the standard abilitybto see my current speed, ride time, average speed etc. Would Luke to see something with altitude and if possible a heart rate monitor.
After a bit of online research it looks like the Garmin 500 is a good option.
Couple of questions;
Is the Garmin 500 a good option
