Following the recent conversation about overtaking…manners and common sense…

Just a quick post to ask bike riders to call out to dog walkers and horse riders that they are approaching - most don't hear bikes coming.

If you call out it gives the people time to gather their dogs out of your way and prepare their horses for your approach.

If you think a wallaby can do damage to a rider then imagine a one tonne creature with its own brain who moves very fast and can kick.

Fox 15mm Axle - Manly Dam

Just on the off chance, I left a 15mm Fox fork axle on the grass bank opposite the Manly Labs. If any one happens to find it I'd love to be able to secure my front wheel to the fork before I ride again Smiling

Saturday,October 5 is IMBA take a Kid (or Mom) Mountain Biking day

Heads up for everyone out there who might usually be having a hard time getting their family out riding with them: This Saturday (October 5) is IMBA's Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day. As this is the 10th anniversary, they have, rather tongue in cheek I think, crossed out the 'kid' and replaced with 'mom' as a way of saying it really is for all the family.

TKMBD is an annual celebration held on the first Saturday of October. The event, developed and coordinated by IMBA, strives to encourage communities around the world to join together and ride mountain bikes with youth.

To be honest, that's about all you need to know: it's an excuse to drag your family or friends out on the dirt and get them grinning Laughing out loud

For those wanting to know more about the background, details on the IMBA site here: http://www.imba.com/tkmbd

If anyone wants to arrange something 'official' for this day somewhere around the Northern Beaches, please put it in the calendar and comment here so we can give it a plug.

Elusive Emu...

Good to meet some more NobMobbers and fellow noobies. Beginning to wonder though whether Hawkeye is an actual person or just someone's alter ego. Hope you're feeling better and might catch you on another ride sometime soon!

Jubes Mountain Bike Park update for 29 Sep

Status:
Red/Closed

Found out the hard way, after driving down from the Central Coast, that this bad boy is totally closed. They are doing work to repair it and extend the flow track which is rad. The kids were devo but keen for it to re-open.

Tasmania ?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

HI Guys

The family and I are contemplating a trip to Tasmania over the summer break. The plan would be to do some riding while were there. ( planning to take our car and bikes over on the Ferry )

Can anyone suggest some good places to ride or to base ourselves ?

We're not looking for any wild downhills, the boys are 8 and 13. They are comfortable riding at Awaba, Wingello, Sparrow Hill, Mount Annan etc. We spent a week at Forrest earlier this year and that was perfect. Rent a house in the village and ride to a number of different trails nearby.

Tight single track near Golf Course

Not a lot of clearance between the trees in places. Not that it's a problem Smiling
