Mowbray Park Farm update for 08 Apr

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Status:
Red/Closed

Little bit of Disappointing news.

Our mountain bike track is now closed to casual riding. It will only be used for events. We have been unable to get sufficient assurances from our insurers that all bases are covered therefore the exposure is not worth the potential grief.

Please resist the urge for a sticky beak.

In regards to illegal access to the site while its closed - I'll try and get a bit more information out to see if we can reassure people a bit with the works we are undertaking. As well as the safety issues, it adds time onto the project works - they may have to redo works once half a dozen bikes have gone through the work site after they've left. As you know - we're working to very tight deadlines, and need all the time we can get. - Project Planning Officer, National Parks & Wildlife Service

The Log drops are gone!

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

I bet your freaking out right now. You can be forgiven for thinking National Parks have replaced the log drops with a fire-trail. In actual fact this whole area will be rehabilitated back into natural bushland. I new realigned track will be built around this area.

Back filling

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

As you can see by the red lines, there is multiple truckloads of back fill going in to bring back a cross fall across the natural level. Note, this is not the new trail, and a large amount of this is planned for rehabilitation for natural bush. In a months time there will be some wicked single track through here.
