Article on 26er versus 29er race comparison

Just read an interesting article on MTBR where a guy raced a 24 Hour Race on both a 26er and a 29er.

Bug windscreens

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Lately I've been doing alot more night riding. While copping a bug in the mouth sucks. I bug blinding you at high speed is worse. I think i need to invest in some glasses that are ideally suitable for day and night. I also find I loose depth perception wih glasses. Im not sure if this common for others or because of my eyes or because I have only ever used service station cheapies in the past.

Whats you recommendations?

These got my attention.

The single track is dry and a little sandy in some places. There's still a few branches and sticks on the track in places.

Oaks Evening Ride

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
When:
Friday, 15 February, 2013 - 19:15

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
The Oaks
Meeting Point:

Woodford train station (south side carpark)

Show on Google maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

An evening/night ride down the Oaks and back up by train or whatever. The train up the mountain gets in about 7.16, I will be coming down from Hazo. Sunset is about 7.45 so bring your lights! Train at the other end back up the mountain from Glenbrook is at 9.13 which should give plenty of time.

Won't be race pace at my fitness level, just a social ride

If we don't get enough interest for tomorrow night I might shift this to Saturday if people like

Hi All

Sorry about joining just to ask questions, but thats how you learn right!

I was put onto you guys as having a few Tandem bikes around the club...

The missus and I went for a ride on a tandem bike over the weekend and loved it Smiling (she is visually impared and has never rode a bike before)
We put about 100kms on the bike and did a bit of gravel and single track on the way, and really enjoyed that part!

We were on a Canondale with rigid forks and 26x2" road tyres and apart from still getting used to it, it seemed to go alright Smiling

Running Wild at Knapsack

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Every time i ride Knapsack lately there are new trails cut through. A majority of these can be attributed to the various running groups and events they hold, the latest is 'Running Wild'.
Whats the go with local council, it took us 2 years to lobby for trail maintainability and these groups come along and do as they please.

I want to know what the councils stance is on this? Before to long they are going to screw it up for all of us.
