My Weekend at Majura

Spent the weekend at Majura. This would normally be awesome but I was on Majura Military training range. So I spent most of the weekend sitting up on the hill looking down across the road at the pine forest Sad

Oh well.....can't wait to go back there sometime in the future!

My First 100km

Well this was my first 100km race and boy did I pick a hard one to do! I started at the back of the pack as I had no expectations of any heroics. We quickly hit the usual traffic jam as we entered the first single track. This eased up a bit though as we went into the next firetrail section and things started to spread out. Things went pretty much as normal in the first 50km. I was pretty much by myself for most of it. I only saw Loz when he broke down and again at the 30km water stop when he caught up. I saw Rob, Tien and Leo at the water stop too but they left shortly after I got there.

Well got a bit lucky today when I realised after the ride that I had a torn sidewall.
Torn sidewall
I sure am having no luck with tyre's and tubes on my new bike. First I get a glass puncture right at the finish of the Dirtworks. Must have been one of those warm beer bottles that we all got handed at the finish line!

Then last week I get a pinch flat after going off a drop in Manly. The tubes that come standard with the Trance X0 sure are damn thin! Some sort of Maxxis lightweight tube.

Firstly, thanks to Christine for getting us great accomadation. Nobmob always does it in style at events! Poor buggers freezing their bums off in the paddock below Sticking out tongue

Second well done to all that participated. It was my first Dirtworks and I loved it.

Good ride at the Dam

Couldn't make the Anderson's and Oaks ride so did the Dam instead in the afternoon. Awesome fun. Finally conquered all the steps after the golf course including the one after the boardwalk going uphill towards Wakehurst Parkway.

Absolutely loving the new bike. It just soaks up everything...but then again anything would be better than the 100mm of travel I had with those Rock Shock Darts!

Did 3 laps and felt good.

Fright of my life

Well Loz and I went for a ride in Cascades this morning. Bumped into Sean, Steve and Bruce at the head of the trail too.

Anyway on our way out of there we were heading down this slope and Loz was leading me by probably 2-3m when he shouted out something. I thought he said spiders as he always does when we ride at night in summer. But nope turns out he was yelling SNAKE!

Well Loz nearly ran over its tail and the snake doubled back to have a go at him as he pedalled furiously away.

2007 8 1/4 Hours of Power (or lack of)

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Well here’s a quick summary of this years 8 ¼ Hours of Power at Ourimbah. It didn’t start off well as we lost one member due to illness before the start so that left Harry and I to ride in a pairs team (I was hoping for a cruisy day!).

2007 Half Fling

Well this was my first solo race effort (the Mont being my first race). My Fling experience seems to reflect a lot of the other fellow Nobmobbers! Let's start from the top.

My First Race

A few months back there were two teams from Nobmob going to the Mont. Greg was looking to make a third team and roped me in. I was a bit tentative as I have never done any form of MTB race and I was pretty new to the sport to be honest. I first got my bike around September 2006 from memory. Soon after I then broke my arm falling of my new bike so that put me out for the rest of 2006. So around came 2007 and I got back on the bike and was having great fun. However I never trained too much with perhaps a ride or two a week. This got worse in winter as I did not have lights for night riding.
