An enjoyable day racing at Mount Annan.

The short loop was used, cutting out the fire trail climb at the end. I'm not sure what the actual length of lap was but it seemed to be about 8.5 - 9 km. This produced quick laps which suited our team. The trail has bedded in a lot compared to the last time I raced here, it feels a lot more natural than it did. I really enjoyed racing here, just need to learn how to do the switchback berms!

Big thanks to the organisers for doing a great job and also to the guy at the Shimano tent for lending me his bottle cage as I forgot my camelback.

I thought about pulling the pin on this race because of the weather but glad I didn't.

I've done very little riding in the last 3 weeks due to either the weather or going away so I didn't hold out much hopes of a great result. I'm pretty happy to be in the top half of the table, especially as I've only ever ridden Awaba once before.

What a great race, at a great course, attended by great people.

I've done a few chocfoot enduro's and have never been disappointed with their set up and this was no exception. The course was a really good mix of fire trail, flowing sniggle and technical climbs/descents.

This was my second enduro race so I knew what I was up for but last time the temperature was more what I was used to (low single figures to start, raising to low teens) not the 32 degree day we had on Sunday.

I did the first lap as I was the only person who had done a lap of the new Mt Annan course. I'd not done a first lap before and was a bit nervous as I was waiting for the gun but it turns out that the first lap is a reasonable pace with sections where I was stood waiting for the traffic to clear on obstacles. By the end of the lap I was mid field which I thought was reasonable.
