I smashed my pre-race goal of 120km, I did somewhere between 140km and 132km, completed 14 laps. The track builder at the rider building said a lap was 10.2km, my garmin averaged 9.5km.

The direction of the course was reversed, making it harder than the six hour, was a number of spots where there was log rollovers on an uphill. I wasn't very comfortable for the first few laps, on the second lap I washed out around a corner, the track was very dry and dusty. It wasn't until my 6th lap that I did my fastest lap of 33:07.6 at around the 3hr mark. I need to do more work on cornering, often I'd dab the brakes when there was no need to. I also have to reduce my stop time, I’m going to try and eat more on the bike and only stop long enough to change the bottle over, grab food and lube the chain.

Bike performed great, I love the Fizik Gobi saddle that I put on it. I had issues with both the front and back brake, as soon as I got the bike out of the car the front brake lever was going to the grip and the back brake was squealing. I adjusted the front to get enough bite out of the brake, but had to live with the noise of the back brake.

I need to work on my food intake, relied too heavily on gels this race. I’m also planning to buy more bottles, with stops every two laps to change bottle, I ran out of prepared bottles and I ended up using just water for the last two and a half hours. Started to feel the efforts of that in my hands which were beginning to cramp on the last lap, I’m going to run the front suspension a bit softer for the next race.

I wish I had my Garmin profile, but my 6 week old replacement Garmin screwed up, was fine for the race, went to turn it on when I got home and it wouldn't start. Went out to their office today to try and sort it out, they had no solution just another new unit.

Nooooo... hold 'lap/reset' button and 'mode' button down at the same time for about 5 seconds. Discussed here:

Nice effort on the laps though!

I had to show the garmin "tech" person how to do that to get it started, they think the data is corrupted. I ended up getting it started and charged but couldn't download my race data. I'm going to test the new one with the heart rate monitor tomorrow morning.

I was only 3 laps down on the winner this time, two laps better then Appin Smiling
