How to fix your Garmin Edge

For all those who have an Edge that powers off randomly - this might be something good to try:

There's a nice thread here on how to disassemble the device in the first place:

BTW - while we're at it, if your Edge seems completely dead it might not be. If you haven't used it for a while plug in the USB for a while to make sure the battery is not dead then try this:

To 'reset' a Garmin Edge (works with 305 at least) hold 'lap/reset' button and 'mode' button down at the same time for about 5 seconds. Then let go of these and try the power button. I have had to do this numerous times lately. Seems charging with low current USB (like a hub instead of directly connected to the PC) confuses it.

If you want to view the diagnostic screen, hold 'enter' button during power on.

This morning my edge wouldn't wake up.
It had been on the PC overnight with the power off (but still trickle charging the edge)
The lap/reset/mode worked a treat!
Whew.... big relief!
