Hi Guys,

I have an 09 Reign 1 and I'm looking for a really good wheelset as an upgrade. What are people running and recommend?

I've had a problem with normal tyres on UST rims not seating well although they work great with tubeless tyres

Thanks

That does sound an odd problem. No experience with these wheels so can't comment.

That said, if you're looking for QR15 wheels get yourself some Hope Pro II hubs (QR15/20mm/standard QR interchangeable) Smiling

For a Reign you'd take 'em on Mavic 819 rims from CRC - $467AUD the pair right now (tenner less if you don't want DB Competition spokes).

I have this (with champion spokes) on the Yeti - love 'em!

Thanks for the reply. I had been eyeing the Hope Pro II, the sound good.

Where is CRC?

Chain Reaction Cycles......got it Eye-wink

Ordered a set of these earlier this week from CRC. Lighter, wider and stronger(or so the reviews say) than 819's and less than $500 as well. Comes as QR with 20mm adapter included. 819's and flows are proper tubeless rims and should give you no problems.

Cool, I just ordered the 819's on Hope pro II's, got a mate who works there and got a very good price. Looking forward to getting them Smiling

Interesting... what do you mean by the Flow is a 'proper' UST rim though?

The 819 has special eyelets (and accompanying tool - don't loose it - erm... wonder where mine is Eye-wink) for fixing the spokes. This means the holes don't go all the way through the rim and it is fully airtight on it's own. I imagine the Flow needs some tape to seal, is that correct?

Being airtight on it's own is a good thing - rims like the DT 4.2 (another common option) need a tubeless conversion kit. When you add the weight of the kit the 'lightweight' 4.2 rims are almost the same as the 819s.
