Warning: Multiple car break-in's today at Yellomundee

Went to ride at Yellomundee today ( tuesday) at about 3pm. My first time there. Parked at the suggested parking area. Several cars were parked there with other riders coming and going (about 6 cars) .
After returning to the cars at 16h15, we found 2 cars broken into and one attempted. Rocks had been thrown through the windows of a Subaru and a Holden and all valuables and bags inside were stolen. The holden also had the door handle broken, the door frame bent by a rock and the windscreen smashed.
I was lucky in that my windows are tinted with smash-proof window tint. They had thrown a rock at my side window but it did not break or crack (lucky this time).
I believe there was other break-ins on the weekend.
Nice track but not worth the visit if this crap is going on.

That's really bad news. I have been out there quite a few times without incident... But it's definitely a worry. Has anything like this happened before to anyone out there?
I was out there a few weeks ago on a Monday around lunch time , don't think I will be going back there midweek now,
only on w/ends in the mornings safety in numbers
Probably worth reporting this to the coppers, if it's happening frequently they might be able to ping the buggers.
Definitely report this to the cops and to NPWS. I've never heard of this going on before but I suppose given it's proximity to the middle of nowhere the pricks were bound to hit it sooner or later.
I have reported this to the Police and they have notified the local Springwood Police Station.
Grrrr. I hate that sort of crap. Hopefully it would stop after just one occasion of a couple of angry MTB'ers flogging the living hell out of the culprits when they try it just as the riders get back to their cars.....
If it keeps up how long will it be before we are posting lookouts to watch the cars while we're away?
Colt
Reminds me of SA (the country)... a number of MTB training venues (car parks) were being targeted in a very similar fashion. Started with break-ins and then progressed to muggings and car thefts.
Then the crafty bastards cottoned onto race venues... whereby they would just drive off with someone's car. Race organisers had to employ "car guards" in an attempt to combat this...
Sad to hear this is a reality in Aus...
