So I've gotta be in this one, eh. Besides, it's about time I entered some events, and just before I change categories, too!

Who else's coming?

Hi snow kiwi hows the knee ? Have you checked the race date 14th FEBUARY Valentines day ???

What's wrong with a holiday to Callalla beach for a valentine's present?

Much as neither of us is really sentimental (we both forget our anniversary and have to check the marriage certificate to figure out how long we've been married) I should book a nice cabin rather than just packing a tent, eh Smiling

Thanks for the heads-up. It gets me every year...

And the knee is much better - especially when I'm tanked on anti-anflamitories Eye-wink

Anybody ridden the single track in this event? I'm wondering about bar ends, as I've got fairly wide bars and bar ends get a bit dangerous in tight sniggle, but they are great for a bit of varaiation in hand / arm positions on longer rides.

Lach, I rode 2 of the 3 "named" tracks back in November. Memory is foggy but think you'll be fine. The single track was mainly in established forest with not a lot of bush/smaller saplings to grab bar ends. If you did hit something it will be big and immovable so bar ends or not you'll be coming off. If you're worried contact the race organisers as there is another single track I haven't ridden and also a private section which no one is allowed to ride until race day. I recall they are building the track through the private property so this might suggest tighter sniggle with bush much closer to the track.

Thanks. All a bit moot since I posted the query as I am now off bike on doctor's orders due to significant bursitis related swelling in lower right arm, caused by I don't know exactly what. Hoping it will be right "enough" to ride but may drop back to the 50, and will probably try to find some armour for the forearm..... Sad

I just wanted to share with everyone that I just cant wait for the weekend. Crappy conditions - pah! I just dont care. I just love new races in the calendar

100km of fun, personal challenge and a bit of racing thrown in! Woo!

I'll be there with Jen (mrs. Antsonline) on 29ers in Clarence Street kit. Come and say hi.

I was going to do the 100 as my first 100 but woosed out and clicked the 50 . Staying with friends saturday night close by but will have the webed feet for Sunday mud fest . Good Luck everybody ( Will have the kit as per my pic , so say hi )

Any locals able to give a read on track conditions?

Supposed to be sunny down there today, rain Friday and just "possible" showers and thunderstorms Thur, Sat and Sun. As long as "possible" doesn't turn into too much "actual", it mightn't be too bad.

Might just about need lights for a 0600 start if its overcast tho'. The early start will suit all those road riders used to their early morning bunch rides........

THE 100K'er MTB Enduro - Cancellation Update‏

Hello all,

As you have undoubtedly heard at this point, THE 100K’er MTB Enduro has been cancelled pending further announcements.

This decision, while unfortunate, was necessary as the condition of the trails deteriorated significantly due to the rain on Friday evening and then again early on Saturday afternoon.

Initial inspection of the trails on Saturday morning revealed that while sections of the track to the North of Forest Rd were unrideable, trails on the South side of Forest Rd had held up quite well, and we modified the course so that the 100km riders would be completing 2 laps of the 50km course.

Unfortunately the rain started again just before midday today and there was significant deterioration beyond expectations in the fire roads on the south side of Forest Rd, leading us to make this decision.

This decision is not one that we have taken lightly, however in light of the conditions, it is one that we have unfortunately had to make.

The main factors in our decision are:

- Rider safety. We have a duty of care to our competitors to ensure that conditions are as safe as possible. On some of the fire roads this morning, I could not pull up in the mud with both brakes on and my shoes dragging in the mud.

- Impact on the trails. Whilst some wear and tear is inevitable in any event, as you would understand, riding in the current conditions would have an unacceptable impact on the trails, and would simply not be fair on the local SCUM club who manage and maintain the trails, nor NSW Forests and the multitude of other forest users.

As soon as the decision to cancel the event was made, we endeavoured to manually sms each competitor to inform them of our decision, while a news item was posted to our homepage, as well as on the rotorburn forum. We apologise if you feel that you received notification too late or not at all, but we tried everything humanly possible to get the word out as quickly as possible.

We would sincerely like to thank the multitude of competitors who responded with well wishes and praise for making such a tough decision.

Where to from here?

We will be talking with the relevant parties and taking every step possible to reschedule the event at a later date. This can be a lengthy process and your patience in this matter is greatly appreciated.

We will update the website with information as soon as it is known, so if competitors could hold off calling or emailing, requesting updates, that would be greatly appreciated.

While we will endeavour to reschedule the event, I must draw your attention to our Cancellation policy as per the online registration form, which states:

“13. I acknowledge that, while BlackHeart Events Management Pty Ltd will do everything within their power to alter or postpone the Event, rather than cancel the Event, if conditions warrant the cancellation of the Event, no refunds will be issued.”

Once again we apologise and hope that we can organise an acceptable date for most competitors in the not to distant future.

Regards,

Matt Koerber

It was very wet. Even if it hadn't been raining most of Friday and all of Saturday afternoon / evening, it was raining heavy enough at 5.00 am Sunday to have made me think hard about getting out of bed at all. Having been told of the cancellation when I tried to register on Sat arvo, I just rolled over and went back to sleep. Glad I wasn't camping!

Be interesting to see if they can / do reschedule. Seems to be some gaps in the endurance race calendar in April, but I suppose its Easter / school hols / Anzac Day, so we'll see.
