anyone been mountain biking in Bali?
i'm in WA at the moment and the flights to Bali are extremely cheap $350 return (cost me more to fly SYD to PER return) so am thinking i may take a quick trip over there.
Has anyone been mountain biking in Bali? what was it like?
any recommendations/comments would be appreciated.
thanks guys

siting in between mum and Lisa right now actually and can't get a word in. They both said to say Hi!
I'm sitting here trying to decide whether to go to Bali for a week or to head back to Sydney to ride my bike given the Fling is on in a few weeks. besides playing Wii with the kids and chase them around the yard i've done bugger all.
PLEASE SAY HI TO MUM AND LISA ,YOU SHOULD BE THINKING ABOUT DOING SOME BIG KLMS FOR FLING OR IT WILL NOT BE MUCH FUN BALI SOUNDS GOOD BUT FLING IS NOT FAR OFF
Been twice now, and it pays to have a guide. I've been with Bali TrailBlazers. Claire, who owns it is a pommy, but lovely.

The guide for both trips was Ketut, who is the 10 time national xc champion - just awesome rider, allround nice guy.
Did the Batur Crater ride and its amazing views, not such a great singletrack ride, but quite tough on the legs.
The Temple to Perasi Beach ride is great riding, esp if you have experience guys around you. Single track, you see lots of the village life, bit of hikeabike. Beers at the end on the beach makes all worthwhile.
They have this drink called "Pokari Sweat", and its a electrolyte drink. Get some, cuz its f...n hot.
I'll attach some images seperately. Enjoy.
did you take your own bike or hire? if you hired, what condition were the bikes in? i've read a few reviews of some other companies advising the bikes were not maintained eg brake pads worn out and some crashes happened as a result.
I used their bikes, but took my own pedels. Bit avg hard tail bikes with discs, but they were in good condition - no issues at all. Claire runs a good ship there, as she caters for lots of poms, aussies, singaporeans. Bikes are avg there because parts are very expensive due to import taxes etc. The first time I went, guys had taken their bikes with them.
Yeah I recently did the temple to beach ride and absolutely loved it!
Completely buggered by the end of the day, but well worth it
We hired their bikes and I found them to be in good condition / well maintained. Nothing too flash but ok. Mine was a GT hardtail from memory.
I'd love to go back again and do some of the other rides they offer, perhaps even one of the multi-day adventures.
I would however take my own shoes/pedals. They're pretty easy to pack and if you're used to clip-ins then you'll miss not having them.
If you can get airfares that cheap and have some holidays then I'd say defintely do it! The day trip wasn't that expensive, and Bali in general is pretty cheap so you could end up with a great and economical holiday.
Big thumbs up from me
I did this ride last Monday - very nice. Completely agree with the comments of raymondv above
Here's a few shots and the GPS:
