Let's try that again...

As discussed, this is my proper first ride back after an injury, and I'm under strict instructions from He Who Must Be Obeyed that I'm not to fall off! The missus would kill me if I did anyway, but the surgeon is bigger. Not sure who I fear more. Sticking out tongue

Anyway, this means the ride will be slow and social. I haven't ridden this trail previously, so we can go exploring together. My 13yo will be joining us, along with a mate riding his brand new enduro bike and possibly a mate of his, so it will suit those looking to bring a friend, significant other, or family member and introduce them to the sport. The length of the out-and-back is about 22km, so probably not suitable for really young children.

There are reputedly great views from a few points along this trail.

I'm in a white Commodore and you'll have a hard time missing my bike: It's a Kermit green Cannondale dually with a single leg fork. My youngster has a similar bike in black with silver wheels.

... were the ones that I was planning on riding.

However, a recent development means I need to shoot up the coast to visit my dad at Forster this weekend while I have a window that fits in with other family commitments.

So you guys have a choice, and I'll leave the choice up to you:

a) we can defer another week and hawkeye junior and I will join you then
b) I'll leave the ride meeting as is, and you can continue in my absence.
c) you can ride this week AND next week Smiling

Let me know what you'd prefer and I'll respond accordingly.

Here's the standard route:

You really cannot get lost as the only other right turns on the Perimeter have gates across them and the Long Track has a big sign with the name on it.

I'd come to show the way, but have to do the Gong ride that day. Sorry Sad

Should be good - there was a bit of bush debris on the Centre and the Duck holes routes yesterday but all in all dry with rock, shale and some soft sand here and there - all good fun.

Was warm out there no doubt. We lost ryan? before the long track turn off. waited for 10 /15 minutes, kiwiphil rode back looking then we pressed on. the rest of us had a great ride with no probs :]
Ryan let us know where you went and that ur ok.

... while I didn't get a lot of riding done on my trip away, my Dad remembered who I was this time and seems to have put on weight, so the relocation to the dementia-specific wing of the nursing home seems to have worked out very well.

As it happened, I pulled a thigh muscle on the commute home from work on Friday evening, so I might have had to pull out anyway. The heart was willing but the body ain't being too cooperative right now. Getting back into some sort of shape after 6+ months off the bike seems to be a bit of a polka - 2 steps sideways, one step back!

Do we need to send out a search party for Ryan? Eye-wink
