Bahai Temple to Deep Creek Trail

G'day!

Last Saturday I was riding on the Deep Creek Trail from Morgan Road towards Narrabeen, and not that long after the waterfall I came across a trail on the left side. It was a very nce single-track trail. I don't believe it is secret track or anything like that, since it was not hidden in any way. So I decided to head up it, I soon came across some guys who told me it is a very long trail and comes out near Bahai Temple, and I was going the wrong way. So I ended up turning back...

Anyway, Ive been planning to do this trail this weekend in conjuction with a longer ride, but I did not know where exactly the trail started near the Bahai Temple. So I asked somebody about it in another forum because they mentioned they had riden there, they told me that it starts about 200m after the Temple along Mona Vale Rd towards St Ives. Where there is a parking bay, the trail starts left of it, over some logs. When there is a fork in the track take the left option. Anyway, I haven't personally explored the track yet, but will probably post an update of it here after I have...

Anyway, I am sharing this info because I believe this trail is public knowledge. And I have benefited a lot from the maps/trail info here on Nobmob.com and I think this trail would be a great addition to the collection.

Cheers,
Truthman

Hey, thanks for the tip... I know nothing about this, but if this is what I'm looking at now then don't think it's too private/secret.

If you look on a topo map there's a fire trail marked South from Mona Vale road, near the junction with Tumburra Street. Looking at the hi-res pictures on Lands NSW it does seem to carry on for some way after the end of the marked stuff. Worth a look in the new year?

What else is interesting here, is on the North side of MV Rd from that junction there's a dirt track which is marked as sealed on the topo, but is clearly not. This runs along side MV Rd and at the West end appears to join up with Duck Holes (that trail is marked in Google Maps, but not on the topo, but is clearly visible on the satellite and could be nice sniggle). This could be used to make some nice combos with Duck Holes and Terrey Hills, no?

Hey Rob,

I am pretty keen to hit up some new trails in the New Year, this sounds and looks like a good one.

Have a great festive season.

Yeah, I plan to add this trail to the approximately 50km loop which I plan to do now and then:

Start from here where I live in Cromer. Hit the trails from Cromer heights to Wakehurst parkway, then up Morgan Road to Oxford falls and cross over to Belrose and do the trails from there to St-Ives near the wild flower garden, then hit the trails behind the the Showgroud to Terrey Hills... hit some trails from there to Ingleside, and then take the temple track down to deep Creek, then follow the trails around the lake back to Cromer.

Anyway, we did something similar a few weeks ago, was very nice, but we didn't know about the temple track...

If anybody is interested in joining us next time we go do the mega loop, let me know... We are just a few social riders, more the merrier Smiling

Merry Christmas everybody!
