tried a 'big' hot lap from mosman, round the dam and back to mosman.
wanted to break the hour and did it in about 58.30, pressed the lap button on the garmin when i reached the dam loop and ended up with 28.35 on my return to the same spot.
not bad for a 40 year old ex smoker. i know there's room for improvement and i'll try it on a hardtail early next year.

Just so I can get a feel for what is required to go that fast would I be right in saying you're in the big cog for almost the entire lap? What sort of combo do you tackle heart break in? I live in middle when I do the dam and break out Granny/2 when I do heart break.
Cheers, Owen

cant really say about gears as it's mainly about 'feel'. i know i'm in middle/2 (or 3 at botttom and top) on heartbreak hill and only really big ring it on the main downhill sections to stop chainslap.
unless someone will correct me, the only way you get to train yourself for the big gears is on a road bike or a single speed mtb.

Out of interest, where is your stop point? I've been thinking of changing mine.
