The Oaks on Sunday the 28th, 7am
Hi there!
Anybody up for a return trip on the Oaks trail this Sunday?
7am start at Glenbrook carpark (by bike) riding to Woodford and back (by bike).
Just to test what 50km feel like and for the fun of it !!
Have a great day!
Caro

I was going to make a Manly Dam invitation for Sunday. But I could be swayed for this. Sounds okay for a real fitness test. Is this a definite invite? Or are you just seeing interest first?
I will see what I feel like by Saturday afternoon, and let you know. Either by post here or txt msg if at late notice.
The ride up the mountain doesn't sound like too much fun. But the ride down does! Do you intend on getting up the mountain via a road march? Or by the fire trails?
Hi Liam,
this is a definite invite, Bruce is in as well and maybe Evan will want to get over his bad experience from last time .
Am open for suggestions regarding the start since I haven't done this before but I would vote for the fire trail -I think-?
Have fun riding Oxford Falls tomorrow!
Sounds good to me!
Which direction are we going in? Uphill first, then the downhill?
start in Glenbrook, so uphill first, apart from the nasty little hill at the end to the car park
Caro, I've only ever done The Oaks the easy way. Any idea how long the two way trip will take and do you go right to the top or just to the helipad.
Count me in for an up and back on the Oaks .
Evan
I think I have lost my mind. I am committing to riding a DH style bike 30km uphill. Then riding downhill for the fun of it. All with a 7:00 a.m. start in the morning. Have I gone insane? As proof, I'm having a salad for dinner!! A SALAD!! WTF?? I think I may need an ambulance by the end of tomorrow.
Urgh, I have to bail. I'm jealous, though. Need to do this ride soon!
will try and make it see if i can get up early enough! will txt you if i make it there, or see you there!
Hi there!
Sorry for late reply...
Paul, I don't know how long it will take. a few hours I would say, I think it took us a couple of hours last time and that was only the downhill part. But then we were a really large group, lot's of breaks and a couple of technicals. As I said: don't know...
Liam! I am impressed and a bit concerned really. Salad??? You??? I hope you are feeling
ok !?!
See you in a bit!
Caro
Count me in.
Any change of plan I can be contacted on 0409-359961
Thanks everyone for the fun ride today. It was awesome fun, despite the exhaustion I am sure we are all feeling right now. It was all I could do to peel myself out of the recliner, boot up the PC, and write this post. Well done all for hacking it out and surviving to the end. Despite Caro sleeping on the job!
Bigger thanks to Caro for the organisation and the fortitude for suggesting a grueling ride like that. At least you are now a bit wiser about your ability to ride this distance. And myself as well, I suppose. A total of 5.5 hours really is a tester. That salad made all the difference.
And to the newly crowned "Man/Machine", Murray. How are you feeling? Did you get off the train and race it home, just for fun?
Happy trails!
Hi there!
I thought I wrote a post earlier but it seems like all my blood was still in my legs so god knows if I wrote it or where I posted it ??
Thanks everyone for the great ride! After a few hours of rest and a big plate of pasta I can say that was great fun! (Amnesia I guess
No, I really enjoyed it and I think we should do that again sometime, no sleeping on the job for me next time !
Yes Murray (the goat1) I think you will have to share the secret of your magic power that makes you fly up the hills! You are serious competition for Bruce (the goat2)!
What's left to say?
Go Evan!!
Good night,
Caro
Yep thanks for an awesome ride,it was a great idea to do the up and back; don't feel too bad after a couple of beers and a comatose on the couch for a couple of hours.
Well I reckon Evans front brake resistance training method will leave him in good stead for the hills next time.
time to zone out again;I'm tired..
Murray
Hi everyone,
Thank you Carolin for organising such a great ride & everyone who rode yesterday, had so much fun, will have to do it again soon.
What a great test of fitness, how are the legs feeling today? Some of those hills on the way up were a little steeper than I had expected. Awsome:-)
cheers
Bruce
Thanks Caro..... I think. Hmmmm, now where's those pain killers.
It was a great ride..... Thanks to everyone for the ride.
Murray, I'll have whatever you're taking thanks.
This was by far the biggest ride I have done in the 7 months of regular mountain biking.
Thanks and cheers
Evan
Bruce,
The legs are struggling today. I thought I felt "okay" yesterday. But getting out of bed this morning was a struggle. I was groaning loudly. It will take another day to get all of the lactic out.
So, another lap then?
Cheers.
Hi Liam,
It hurts me to say it but I think I know what you mean, the legs felt a little second hand early this morning too. Hopefully nothing a quiet roll around the block tonight cant fix?
Might have to leave the other lap for another day, thanks for asking though!
Bruce
Caro, I was a bit hesitant about the there and back, but I really enjoyed it. Thanks for pushing me out of my comfort zone.
On Sunday afternoon I was drained, but Monday I'm fine no muscle strain or pain and it has given me the encouragment to sign up for the DirtWorks ride (50k's only, the 100k's would be madness).
Hope to ride with you all soon.
Paul
it was great to ride with you again! I still have to ask you how you get up all the hills and over any obstacle (Bantry Bay) without dramas?!? And I hope you won't answer "10 years of riding experience", unfortunately I am not very patient .
Look forward to the dirtworks and to ride again soon!
Caro
Oh, and it wasn't just my legs that were sore today >:(
You guys may have been right.
