to go to Ourimbah! Haven't been there for ages and want to see how I fare again! I haven't ridden Mooney Mooney so can't comment.
Alex,
I haven't been to Mooney Mooney before, so I am keen. Read on this site about it, and it sounds awesome. 30 odd kays of XC bliss - good for 2 to 3 hours I reckon. You can play tour barbie.
Saturday sounds like a goer. Morning is best for me. What time?
hmm i havent been to mooney either so i guess we could all explore it as noobies but im dead keen ourimbah too, do u think both would be too much? yah prob i guess.... well im split 50/50, ive never ridden a trail i prefer to ourimbah so i guess well have to vote whod prefer what!
actually, upon further review, mooney mooney is rather up-hilly (with corresponding downhill granted) and although i would like to do it, i think i cant be that close to ourimbah and not explore it some more...and i gotta do the downhill again and the rollercoaster the right way round this time! again...sooo.. i think im gonna have to call it a ourimbah trip for me..hope that suits too!
Hi All... I love Mooney Mooney... have only been there once, but completely rocked.
You are correct in assuming there's lots of vertical to climb there, but the ride back is well worth it (IMHO... which is from someone who doesn't mind uphill).
We need to get a calendar going of ride 'wish lists7, huh?
Sounds good Rob, as the co-ordination for some of the out-of-town rides needs a bit of work. We should be aiming for the bigger the crowd the better.
Can you be the 'wish-list' fairy?
u in for ourimbah ditty? or u only keen on mooney?
Hi Alex,
I now noticed that Tanya really had beaten me to the punch on this one. I feel a bit pushy. She posted first for Ourimbah. So I didn't want to overturn any consensus (if others out there are interested too?), especially for a new member here.
I did prefer Mooney Mooney, because I had not been there before and we spoke about it at Terrey Hills that day. But it's okay to have that one wait for another weekend or two.
At this stage, I am unsure of an Ourimbah ride for me, without a larger group. It is good to keep these kinds of places as a special event. And I would normally speak to some other mates about getting up there, so they could get involved too. They were the ones that got me started in MTB riding in the first place. I will need another day or two to sort out agenda's and let you know. Are others interested in Ourimbah on Sat?
Cheers mate.
Liam
well if noone else is keen on ourimbah, im still keen for mooney so i guess well play it by ear if thats cool? -
Actally got off me ar$e and happened to ride this last week. Started at the bottom by the river and meandered through the woods on firetrail/single track for a while before starting to climb. Relatively easy climbing to begin with little short bursts. Once you reach the creek it starts to get harder but easily manageable.
Keep climbing, keep climbing and at the top you can carry straigh on or detour to sommersby falls. As they say, whats goes up........
when done, turn around and prepare for a fantastic return journey down whence you came. Its fast, fun and well worth it. wheeeeeee.

Would have enjoyed it even more apart from a pinch flat, then jamming my deraileur
Just give me another day to sort out what some others may want to do. At this stage, I doubt an Ourimbah ride will be on their cards as we were only there 3 weeks ago. But we shall see.
I'll let you know by no later than Thurs evening
Well, I only have negative responses so far about either Ourimbah or Mooney Mooney. In fact, these "mates" could only ride very early on Saturday morning, somewhere local in Sydney. Unfortunately the out-of-town option does not work for them this weekend.
So I seem to be at an impasse.
As I have no ball-and-chain, I am able to ride anywhere, anytime. But I would still have preferred Mooney Mooney - although you weren't keen on the hilly parts. Plus there has not been an overwhelming avalanche of hits for this ride. Which sucks as I was keen to explore. Possibly we could work on the group and drum up some support.
But, this was your post, and I didn't want to take it over. I guess it's your call. Any ideas on what to do now?
Very chivalrous of you...but I will be fine if you decide to go elsewhere. I'm sure I will benefit from a sleep in too if nothing happens. I can't believe some consider either Mooney Mooney or Ourimbah an 'out of town' trip. It's barely 90 mins and an easy drive at that. I've driven up there by myself just to do a few laps! Lightweights!!
Hah! That's the spirit. But we'll just have to see what the responses are. Maybe another local alternative is needed.
hmm, well not too sure what u mean ditty..but im going to one or the other whether someone comes or not hehe- but at the moment im leaning towards ourimbah, but only if at least one person comes...however, if noone wants to go at all, it'll be mooney mooney for a bit of an explore .. but dont get me wrong, im more than happy to do either- u in tan?
I think you will possibly find more enthusiasm when the weather is cooler for your Mooney Mooney and Ourimbah trips...
MEEE (or, as a girl, should i be referred to as 'the ball and chain'!!!)
Alex,
Sorry, but I don't want to do Ourimbah at the moment.
I am still keen on Mooney Mooney, just like we spoke about a couple of weekends ago. But it would be nice if we had more takers for it. Also, some other mates of mine would be keen to do Mooney Mooney with me / us if they were available. It is a new ride that we have not done before.
So I propose we put this one back in the bag for another weekend until we can sort out some extra support. As I said above, we are not being bombarded with hits on this one at the moment. Getting someone that has been there before will be an advantage, as we won't have to consult the maps.
Let me know your thoughts...
Liam.
I just realised today (when I got a phone call about it) that I had doubled booked myself for Sat morning....so I ain't in! Let's do it next weekend....or sometime soon. I'm totally in, I don't need a group to go to Ourimbah, I'll go on my own if I have to. So raincheck on Ourimbah??
Sorry
no dramas yah unfortunantly i have caught the mtb bug right in the middle of summer! but ditty, im gonna call it as a 10am start at mooney mooney, as ive already organised the day, oh and from what i understand its basically just one long trail so maps shouldn't really be nessesary...
unless anyone wants to do a more local ride instead, that would be cool too- but otherwise hope to see you (or anyone even!) there then!- but i understand if u dont
I would do Ourimbah with you next week. And would try to do Mooney Mooney the week after.
So we'll talk more during next week then.
Have fun!!
Alex,
So are you out of the game for the next week or two with an injury?
If not, were you keen for this Mooney Mooney ride? Or should we wait a while?
Hey i have never been for a ride with you guys and im fairly new to MTBing.....but Im keen to go for a good ride. Im from gosford so mooney mooney isnt far from me.... if you guys will have me along?
think i'll be back up for it by saturday im hoping, just better not fall on my hip! yeh mooney mooney could be cool, but i think i would prefer an arvo ride does that suit? -and scotty yeh course ya welcome- just as long as u can last for the 20-30 odd km i think its supposed to be!
Hi Alex,
My window of opportunity is only up to just before Saturday lunchtime. So I cannot ride in the arvo. Going up to see my folks in the Blue Mountains. So if this doesn't work, we will need to lay it off for another week or two and stick to a local haunt for the moment.
Beam me up Scotty! You would be more than welcome to come along to any ride, this or any other. And sorry for the Trek thing. I get silly sometimes.
Cheers,
Liam.
no worries see how we go then, i might be able to swing a morn...how early u thinking?
OK great. thanks guys! im good for anytime on saturday
actually dit, i cant do sat morn as i have to collect some furniture ...but either arvo or another time? soz mate im up for a local in the arvo too if u prefer?
I definitely can only do an early Saturday morning. Enjoy the ride together. Alex, I will post you about this ride some other time over the next few months, as I would still be keen to do it.
Instead, I will make another post for a different Sat ride.
Cheers.
Hey guys,
It gets all confusing when you talk about the following week in last week's thread. Start a new one with the correct date in the title, eh?
Erm... that said - have plans this weekend, and next, but how about Ourimbah the one after?
If anyone is thinking of posting a ride for Ourimbah over the next couple of weeks count me in. Its my favourite track.

Can we go to Ourimbah in three weeks pleeeease??!!
(First weekend in March)
Can't do the next two and would love to come!!!!!
Caro
