A Great Event, at a Great Location for a Great Cause...

The Arms Brunch for Cyclists will be the first social gathering of cyclists on Sydney's Northern Beaches. The event is run by cyclists, for cyclists, about cycling.

The aims are to increase the awareness of cycling in Sydney, build better road safety amongst cyclists, provide valuable information about cycling performance and training and raise money for the Tour de Cure Cancer Charity. There will be a great mix of new and experienced riders as well as some experts on cycling.

The event will include a buffet style Brunch as well as Cycling Specific Presentations. There will also be the chance to bid on a new bike and to pick up some great discounted cycling gear.

Presenter

Garrick Transell is an Exercise Physiologist, Cyclist and Presenter on Sporting Performance. He will be discussing topics that include:

* The Principles of Nutrition and Hydration for Cycling
* Supplements for Cycling - a review
* Cross Training for Cyclists (road and off-road)

The Event will begin at 9am and run through until midday. The Brunch will be from 9-10:30 with the presenters beginning at 10:30 and the raffle being drawn at Midday. Bikes will be stored securely in the outdoor carpark area until 2pm. The Newport Arms has a Burger Shack, Beer Garden, Kids Playground and Bistro. Live music on the grass begins at 3pm so why not invite the family down and stretch the day into a lunch and quiet Sunday afternoon beverage (or two).

All proceeds from the Brunch will go to the Tour de Cure. Our aim is to raise $1 million in 2010 to go towards the Research, Support and Prevention of Cancer in Men, Women and Children. Your support of the event will make a huge difference to the lives of those effected by cancer and their families. So buy a ticket, get involved and dig deep on the day.

Could always organise a ride from St Leonards etc to get up to Newport arms though, maybe with some detours to push the distance out.

Looks to be more a of brunch event, with guest speakers etc.
