MANLY DAM - COUNCIL CONCERNS SAFETY - WHAT A JOKE

The following email sent to Council.

Hello unfortunate person who has to cop my verbals,

I love my mountain bike riding and consider it away to unstess and not have to worry about
the crazy motorists who have no consideration for bikers that use the road, hence why I only stick to trails.

But what the Hell has gotten into Council to decide to fence off a section of the Manly Dam trail. I refer to the section approx 1km north of the Bowls club. There are no warning signs to indicate that the trail is closed. Hello !, The lights are on at Council, but very obvious no-one is at home.

I was traveling south along the trail at a fairly good pace, to be greeted with a gate across the trail, I quickly steered to the right, (bad move) how lovely a wired fence that is camoflaged with the bush, and arse over tit I did fly. Good one Council, you have succeeded.

I was under the impression that Mountain Bikers and Warringah Council were working together to keep trails in good condition and preserve the bush. Guess which one is not?
O' sorry that is a difficult question for you...... Allow me to help. Warringah Council!

Is Council's attitude?, mmmm , Gee those Dam bike riders are really causing us an up-mountain load of work and costing us money. How do we stop the buggers?
Brain wave storming and many council meetings later. Let's build a gate across the trail and camoflage a wire fence into the bush and see how many we can wipe out. That should fix them. Moved: "Mountain Biker Hater", Second:" I'm against anyone having
fun outdoors" motion passed.

What's wrong with Councils in Sydney? Don't you like people enjoying life?

Why has Council closed off a section of the Manly Dam Circuit?
Can hardly wait for your answer on this one.
In the meantime, get your arse down to the section in quesiton and place some warning signs to warn bikers riders before there is a very serious accident.
I would, but my arse is injured, thanks to you!

Again sorry to the person who has to read this, but am not a happy camper

I can understand your anger, but, you have by your own admission given council evidence that if a rider meets a walker on the sections outlined, someone will be in risk of injury.

Council will ague that the signs stating the section have been closed at the head of the trail are sufficient warning and you the should not have been traveling at a speed toward it that would risk you or failing to stop if a fence, gate or wombat was there.

smoking guns are always the most powerful defence

Is this to do with the sections that have been closed and are under quite serious debate, or is this a separate section with a new fence? It sounds like this is un-related to the recent closures, can you clarify?

There's a gate across the single track heading along the golf course.

Free country, and all that.
