OT: Interview with a scammer - stay safe online

I often advise people never to include contact details (phone or email) in forum posts, but some do anyhow. Aside from annoying spam email (sent to addresses harvested by 'bots'), scammers trawl forums for personal details for fraud and phishing.

Have a read of this series of interviews with an ex-scammer from Nigeria, it's a look into this seedy world:

Remember that you should avoid publishing personal details on any forum. On this site, only list contact details on your profile page, and just include something like, "Mobile number on profile..." or, "PM or email me (public address in profile)...".

Only registered members who are logged in can see profiles on this site.

Cause and Effect...

It does surprise me that in this day and age, people from First world countries still seem to fall for this type of thing. I suppose exploitation and greed goes both ways...

Oh look, I just received an email informing me that I have just won the German lottery!
