Ourimbah - Sat 3 March

Ah-ha!

By popular request (erm, see, sat feb 3rd ourimbah/mooney mooney) let us partake in a little XC and DH fun at what seems to be everyone's favourite spot... Ourimbah State Forest!

When: Saturday, March 3 - 9am at the carpark and ready to ride (ie. if you need some time to fart about and adjust your gear, get there earlier).
Where: Red Hill Forest Road, Ourimbah (about 1hr North of Sydney).
What: Play by ear, but some XC and DH action sounds like the order of the day.

Ourimbah is tops, as most people know by now. It's probably not for the newbies or faint of heart, but well worth the trip if you are neither. Depending on who shows there may be grounds for a split group but the turn out here is usually tops and a social time is had by all. Bring some beers and nibbles for after the ride if you feel like it and we can sit around and debate the crashes (is Matt going to be back by then?) afterwards Eye-wink

Torrential rain could put a stop to this, but that's hardly likely is it?

See you there!

If you manage to get them fixed before 3pm, why not join the arvo ride?

Re brakes - lose the discs and switch to V's... a lot less hassle! =;o)

Thank you EVERYONE that came, was a really good day. Just recovering from a splitting headache.....still have to learn how to drink properly, was completely dry on the drive back home :\

Ack, it is 9:30 p.m. and I feel so very tired right now. Can anyone send a masseuse over?

Great showing today... Think things worked out really well, after the end of the first lap a few groups kindof came together nicely. Did we all have fun? Smiling Always good, despite the tenderness in my left shoulder... hmmmmm.

Anyhow, here's the profile I ended up with:

Dead after lunch, or perhaps forgot to put HR monitor back on Eye-wink Massive amount of hanging around, what with lunch, crashes and various mechanical/tire issues. Phew - just look at that hill!

The HR graph tells a good story today - it usually recovers quicker than this and is a lot lower when resting - goes to show what the heat and humidity can do to you.

Yes, that uphill was a killer.

But doesn't the DH part of the graph look great? Top fun that. With the exception of the skin Rob left on the trail. :0

thanks for organising the ride Rob and for the tour around the xc track.
The second lap was alot of fun at the quick speed we ran it at.
I was annoyed that i had to leave at about 11.30, would have loved to do another lap and also try out the downhill course.
Theres alwasy next time though.
Cant wait for the next ride

What a great day!
Thanks everybody! Had the best time! Was awesome to watch you flying down the downhill Gary and Greg. Thanks for chasing us up the mountain Rob, it was an experience indeed Smiling but well worth it after all! Matt did you go up that hill ALL in the middle chain ring as well??? Just wondering Smiling.

Happy Monday
Caro

Aye, all middle ring, the granny has now been removed (and low limit screw turned all the way in) after it ate my chain!

And Sunday saw some sessioning of the Manly Dam technical bits, with the end result being a completely clean run second lap! There are some much easier lines there if you stop and try them all, and the 30 psi 2.3 tyres don't hurt either!

Thank you to everyone, had a top day. I think we all pushed our selves pretty hard for such a hot day.

Matt you must be crazy to ride that hill in the middle chain ring Smiling

Big Cheers to all for a top day of riding.
I agree with Rob that it was pretty cool how the group managed to split up to keep everyone happy.

Well, splitting up the group was the only way to fit in everyone's agenda on the day. Some want XC only, some want DH and XC. And some like Gazza are off to join the Krusty Demons tour.

I think it's the way to go for our future "out of town" rides.

Cheers.

NB - I don't know about you lot, but I was still shattered come Sunday. Although, Manly Dam did blast some cobwebs out of the way. Still, I had seemingly no energy at all. There could be a message in there somewhere. But what?? Laughing out loud

Rob's picture

And the message is...

Drink... more beer on a Saturday night? Eye-wink

Tried that, but the law intervened (had to drive home from a BBQ after eating half a cow, so just a couple). Must admit - I wasn't up for much come Sunday though.
