Dirtworks on a Single Speed

So I'm doing the 50km rather than the 100km due to an ITB injury that I'm treating at the moment, and was going to use my FS bike, but am keen to do Single Speed.

This is my first event but I ride my SS at least once a week, can happily do 20-30km on a ride with it and have problems with hills in places like the Dam or Appin. Having not ridden the DW course I wondered if anyone could advise if given my info above I'd be OK on the course with SS. I'm sure I could ride it but the question is will I enjoy riding it?

Is there a comparable track I could ride to see such as the Oaks - I know it's not as long but I could to the up and back?

doing the 50 on my 29erSS.
done the last 2 on 26er fully , but the last year's event on a Hardtail 7 speed.
I ride the SS a lot around TH, do DH, WT, Cntre and P&L and you be fine, Oaks up and back would similar, too.
good onya, go the SS, I hope I can beat u on the DW.

Depending on how severe your ITB is now, you may suffer quite a bit.
If you are finding it starts to ache after 30kms on the road and/or you are having problems with it on Dam climbs, I wouldn't recommend the SS as your ITB will more than likely flair up.

The first major climb, Wright's Creek will no doubt make you walk. That alone is not ITB friendly. After that, the course undulates along the ridge top with what may (to some) seem like a few little pinch climbs scattered in for good measure. Again depending on the severity of your condition, you may be in a bit of pain by the time you reach the descent which takes you down to the gravel road. The last 10kms (on the gravel road) may seem like torture if you are already in pain...

Man, that write up is enough to put anyone off!
