hey,
i am looking at buying the cannondale CO2 F8 2010 for $600, it is my first mountain bike just looking at getting started. Just wondering what everyones thoughts are about the bike compare to others for the same price
but I'd suggest you should be looking for Shimano Deore or SRAM SX5 components at a minimum if you are expecting to be a regular rider on the trails.
That would be the whole component set - shifters, F+R derailleurs, brakes, cranks - not just the rear derailleur, by the way.
Cannondale make great frames - I have 3 if you include my son's bike - and this would suit say weekly trail use at places like Terry Hills. However, if you are contemplating regular use several times a week doing say commuting duties plus weekend rides you need soemthing with a higher component spec if you want it to last and be reliable without constant adjustment.
The 80mm travel fork is perhaps a bit on the low side. 100mm would be better.
