Dumbest Ourimbah Ride Ever!
Enter via Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. On your right will be 'TreeTops' for the kids and it's large-ish carpark. Carry on past there and the first small clearing which is were parking used to be, and is where the 'Browns' single track turns (you might see riders on your left here).
Parking and official trail head is now designated a further 350m or so up the road where a there is a larger area. There's a CCOMTB sign here by the trail entrance (on the left as you drive up). Park up nose to curb or as directed.
Plan is to do 1 lap of the XC Course then ride up Red Hill Rd to the top (around 16 km) and return, followed by another lap of the XC course. Should be around 55ish km in preparation for the Dirtworks so we'll attempt to minimise stops, but the pace won't be too hectic.
Were you there and have a story to tell?

After riding to the top of Red Hill Rd, we started to descend and took a fire trail to the left. Steep and fast with water bars, much like the final descent of the DW, only loose and dangerous when you follow a Mountain Goat like Blu-Ray. At the bottom was rolling single track with sections that remind you of Jurassic Park (the track, no the movie) and some sections that need a little work. Some sections were hike a bike material with a fairly climbable fire trail back to the top. As stated earlier, a little work up here would make it a lot more flowy.
Further down Red Hill Rd, we spoted another single track hidden away, and were informed by some Moto riders of another nice trail, but after consulting the Topo maps and sighting lack of time and fitness we left them for another day..... stay tuned.
Closer to Scaddens Ridge we popped on to another Fire Trail that turned into some more single track that was all very rideable and pretty lively. Back on to another rocky, steep fire trail and a spot of single track took us back to Red Hill Rd almost at the XC trail head.
All in all it was a beneficial ride that highlighted some new areas of OSF that we hadn't previously seen and provided scope for more exploration. Thanks John for the Maps and Map reading skills.
Ride Profile:
we'll definately explore some more of that single track after dirt works. Was great to find some new tracks.
