Group Training
Perimeter Cowan and Long Trails
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
Looking for a moderate intensity spin as I try to rebuild some base fitness after a busy period at work, and some ITB niggles that have been limiting my riding since late April.
I'll be riding out from my place near Frenchs Forest East around 0720, along Forest Way and then MV Road to the meeting point if anyone wants to join for some extra K's on the road.
The plan is meet at the RFS and head down Booralie Rd to enter via the Jap School at Echunga Rd to start with and if the trail is dry enough come back via Nerang Rd.
Rocky Trail GP Practice at Mt Annan
There's a small parking area on Caley Drive next to the trail head. This is approximately 2.1km South from the larger road junction (circle) at Mt Annan Drive and approximately 1.4km South of the main car park.
Access to Gardens is via main entrance on Narellan Road.

Just going to punch out laps to get used to the course before the Rocky Trail 4hr next week.
Ourimbah semi-serious social
Enter via Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. On your right will be 'TreeTops' for the kids and it's large-ish carpark. Carry on past there and the first small clearing which is were parking used to be, and is where the 'Browns' single track turns (you might see riders on your left here). Please do not park in this car park.
Parking and official trail head is now designated a further 350m or so up the road where there is a larger area. There's a CCOMTB notice board here by the trail entrance (on the left as you drive up the hill). Park up nose to curb or as directed.
I haven't ridden this track for ages, probably a couple of years. Time for an expedition!
I'm looking to do 3, maybe 4 laps. Anyone keen to join?
Saturday Fling Training - Part II
End of Quarry Road, Hornsby - Parking is well signposted, directing cars to park at the END of the road. If this is full, park in the Dural Street carpark.
A group training ride - starting with a couple of warm-up laps of OMV, then Quarry Track, Old Northern Rd to Cherrybrook, some trails and single track around Cherrybrook, then back to Pennant Hills via Stringybark Ridge, then Westleigh before returning to OMV.
As a guide, the pace will be set around the "3-hour half fling" mark. Of course even if you're not racing the Fling you're welcome!
The plan is to step up the pace a bit compared to the first training ride we did...
There are water stops along the way - I usually go with one bottle only.
Saturday Fling Training - The Prologue
End of Quarry Road, Hornsby - Parking is well signposted, directing cars to park at the END of the road. If this is full, park in the Dural Street carpark.
A group training ride - starting with a couple of warm-up laps of OMV, then Quarry Track, Old Northern Rd to Cherrybrook, some trails and single track around Cherrybrook, then back to Pennant Hills via Stringybark Ridge, then Westleigh before returning to OMV.
The plan is to establish a small training group for the lead-up to the Fling. As a guide, the pace will be set around the "3-hour half fling" mark, but we can accommodate slower & faster riders by splitting up on the single track loops. Of course even if you're not racing the Fling you're welcome!
WSMTB 4hr @ Wylde trail recce
Wylde MTB Car park and Trail head is just off Elizabeth drive located next to the Sydney International (Cecil Park) Shooting Centre. The turn off can be found on the left 3km Due west from the M7 Motorway or on the right 600m Due East from Mamre Road.
Looking to familiarise myself with the circuit for next weekend's race, and get in a bit of training.
First lap will be at a moderate pace to see where everything is and maybe session anything tricky that we find, followed by a couple of hours of chasing each other round and round
While I'm way off what I like to think of as my usual pace (which hasn't been so usual of late) this won't be such a social ride, I'll be looking to keep the speed up ... as much as I can. Hopefully that means some of you're going to be a bit (but not too much) faster than me and I'll be pushed to keep up.
Oaks Up and Back
Glenbrook station carpark.
Up and back for some training.
While only 50-odd kms, I found this quite a challenging ride last time. Be sure to bring enough food and fluids for the duration.
Oaks up and back this Saturday - early start.
Glenbrook station carpark.
I'm doing a training ride on the Oaks this Saturday morning if anyone wants to join me. It's always more fun and more rewarding riding in a group.
I'm looking to do it in just under 3 hours so not a blistering pace but not dawdling either.
I'm firm on the start time though as I have to be back in the city before lunch.
Hopefully see you there (weather permitting).
Le Tour de Northern Beaches
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
I'm looking to do 50km or so on Sunday morning around the Northern Beaches. I'm thinking a loop starting at Manly Dam -> Bantry Bay -> Belrose (Cascades) -> St Ives singletrack -> Terrey Hills and maybe back the same way depending on people's legs and the time.
Best suited to a small group with good fitness. I'm not fast but like to keep things moving. I'm looking to build my fitness base back again after a busy and sleep-deprived EOFY.
Oaks Up and Back
Glenbrook station carpark.
Looking to do an old farts training ride up the Oaks and then back down.
Company is welcome.
Approx 60km round trip.
A chance to channel your inner Jensie. Shut up, legs.
I'm just getting back on the training horse after some downtime so looking for some steady climbing with a ripper downhill reward and maybe some single track at the end if conditions aren't too damp.
