Group Training
Akuna Bay West Head on Knobby Tyres
RFS carpark opposite Terrey Hills shops
Mixed pace training ride. The trails will still be saturated, so it sounds like a good excuse to go chase some roadies
Meeting point is the Rural Fire Service carpark opposite Terrey Hills shops.
Will be departing Frenchs Forest cnr Rodborough Road and Warringah Rd 6am for those after a few more km.
If by some miracle conditions improve we could substitute part or all of Duck Holes, Centre, Perimeter and Long depending on consensus.
Perimeter & Long Trails Terrey Hills
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
I've been jilted! My newby mate has sprained his ankle and is off the bike, and Hans has spoiled a fine bromance by dumping me and heading off down the coast with his missus for the weekend ... Hmmmph!
On the upside is a chance to renew contact with you, the usual suspects
I'll be riding out from Frenchs Forest East and expect to be at the intersection of Rodborough Road and Warringah Road (where you turn from Allambie Road to head to Chatswood) at 7:20am to ride out to Terrey HIlls by 8am if anyone cares to join me.
Manly Dam Multi-lap Mash
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
Looking to do a few (say 3) laps of Manly Dam on Sunday and some compamy would be welcome. I usually lap in the low 40s. The aim is to ride the lap non stop with regrouping at the hydro lab or Wakehurst parkway.
See you there
Blue Mountains Early Sunday morning ride: Oaks up and back
Glenbrook station carpark.
Scheduling this for 7am, I'll be coming by train from Sydney and meet you on the car park. Trying to stay within 4 hours, this is not a very fast speed, but some moderate level of fitness will be required.
Cheers,
Volker
GNR Training Ride
Wisemans Ferry - by the East ferry crossing (turn right bottom of the hill). There is a good parking area by the kiosk here.
SATURDAY LOOKS LIKE A SCORCHER AT 33, WHICH MEANS EVEN HOTTER ON GNR. PM ME IF INTERESTED IN DOING SUNDAY MORNING INSTEAD.
I haven't done a NoBMoB ride for an age, due to a demanding first year of Electrical Engineering, reinforced with self confessed laziness (not in terms of cycling, but in terms of getting on the computer and posting a ride!)
My last exam is going to be the preceding week, so I am looking forward for an opportunity to hit some serious riding following that, and hoping that there will be some willing wheels to join me for it.
The proposed route:
Fling Training
Next to the tip entrance (grassed area) on The Bucketts Way (between Tinonee and Purfleet).
Looking to get a last longish training ride in before the Fling while I'm up north visiting family.
I'm envisaging a couple of trips up Heart Rate Hill and the fire road that takes you to the top of Skull and Son of Skull, as well as the normal XC loop.
Company is welcome. It's been awhile so I'm not sure of the state of the circuit markings, so if you're a local your company would be particularly appreciated.
See you there.
Fling Beaches Ride
Maybrook rd, Cromer -just up from retirement village
Bit of a "hope its not too late" training effort.
Plan to ride Red hill over to the dam round to Cascades up Quarry to st Ives single track, onto Terry hills-duckholes and centre back to red hill via oxford falls - around 65ks. Happy to take suggestions on route.
I am no speed demon but would like to keep up a nice pace with limited stops.
Wingello Ride - FAST
4Km SW of Wingello village on Caoura Rd there's a small base camp within the forest - seems as good a place as any.
Hi all.
I want to post this ride because I'm always keen on meeting new people, and (I hate saying this) people often ask me (or Jenny) for advice at races when we really dont have time to talk, so this is a good chance.
However - this wont be a slow ride. Its probably race pace for most people (how do you say that without sounding arrogant?!?!?!?)
Myself and Jenny (Fay) will be heading to Wingello on Sunday morning for a 4 hr ride.
For more clarity, or a benchmark, she rode 4.28 at Convict this year, and I rode 4.02 (ish)...
Wollombi Recce Ride
The Wollombi Tavern
This is a recce training ride for the Wollombi Wild Ride on September 2. It's not quite the complete course as we will be avoiding the private property bit but most of it is rideable which will be good if you haven't ridden here before (like me).
After the ride we plan on stopping at the pub for lunch and a beverage or two
Here is the proposed course and depending on how we are going we might to a bit extra
http://connect.garmin.com/course/1617293
The pace will be consistent and seeing there only looks like one decent hill 3.5 hours should be plenty.
Kiwarrak State Forest 6 May 2012
Next to the tip entrance (grassed area) on The Bucketts Way (between Tinonee and Purfleet).
Given that it's (edit: NOT!) Mothers' Day I'm not expecting a great turnout, but company would be welcome for all or part.
I'm looking to do two, hopefully three laps of the XC circuit, if I can remember where all the turns are. (Anyone got a GPX?)
If that's a fit for you, come and say Hi. I'll be driving a white Commodore with a four-bike roof rack and I'll be on a silver Cannondale with one of them weird half-missing forks
Start time can be negotiated earlier if required - majority rules (so long as it isn't toooo early)
