Group Training
Up, and up again, then back, starting at Glenbrook
Glenbrook station car park.
With a chance the sun will continue to shine Sunday, it's high time to up the training again! And this will be a great way to do it.
From Glenbrook up The Oaks, Ingars and then back via Andersons. This is an absolutely AWESOME set of trails, that make for a fantastic day's riding.
Normally, this route pretty much has everything, but missing this time will be any singletrack; I'll be giving the (short!) singletrack at the tail end of the Oaks a rest after all the recent rain!.
All up, it's a tad over 100k, which I aiming to do in under seven hours. Hmmm ...
Glenbrook to Wentworth Falls and back - Bring waterwings!
Glenbrook station carpark.
If you're starting to think doing the Oakes is ... well ... a little ordinary - do we have a doozy for youi! Glenbrook to Wentworth Falls via Woodford, and back again. 100kms of sheer mountain biking joy!
This ride is hugely satisfying, and if you have a decent level of fitness, it HAS to be on your itenerary. It's that good. (Very personal, opinions, but I'd rate Oakes up and down a 6, this longer, round trip jaunt a 9 or 10.)
Experimental: Great North Road Early Sunday morning ride.
Wisemans Ferry - by the East ferry crossing (turn right bottom of the hill). There is a good parking area by the kiosk here.
Hi,
keen to do something different. I have never been on the GNR before, but have a GPS file/ description which indicates that a great loop ride of somewhat just over 40km can be had in the area. Other accounts indicated that it drains well.
So, if you want to experiment together with me, sign up!
If you know the area, you can still join, but don't tell the group.
You would not want to loose out an opportunity on watching the rest of the group to get lost, right!
Cheers,
Volker
Glenbrook and Wentworth Falls loop, via Oaks, Ingar, Andersons and Oaks again
Glenbrook station carpark.
Hi All.
Getting ready for the Capital Punishment (17th March), and it's overdue for some serious time spent off-road.
This will be a voyage of the great unknown for this wannabe racer. I've only done this ride one-way, and then they were the easy option; Wentworth down to Glenbrook.
This time it's a climb up to Wentworth via Ingar , then back down again via Andersons to Glenbrook. (With quite a bit more 'climbs up' thrown in between!)
Oaks up and back
Car park at Glenbrook Railway station
I have allowed 4 hours but we should get it done quicker if we don't get any mechanical issues

Oaks up - Ingar up - Anderson's down - Oaks down
Glenbrook station carpark.
So who's up for 100+ km of dirt?
I've always wanted to do this classic ride in both directions (much harder going up!), and in the light of the Convict 100 in May (formerly Dirtworks) this gives me all the more reason to do such a long ride. Obviously not for the faint hearted, but any of those brave enough to join me, be my guest.
Here's how it'll go:
Leave Glenbrook 7:45, riding down to causeway, on dirt road to The Oaks and along the Oaks Firetrail. Long grind!
Hopefully reach Woodford by 9:45 & refill water
Down Murphy's Firetrail to Bedford creek (Downhill for once!)
Prequel to Andos+Oaks
Glenbrook station carpark.
Getting keen!
How about meeting 6am at Glenbrook and ride UP Oaks+Andersons and turn around when we meet the group coming down?
We could also run sweeps on where the meeting point will be !
Mnt Annan - fast and slow
There's a small parking area on Caley Drive next to the trail head. This is approximately 2.1km South from the larger road junction (circle) at Mt Annan Drive and approximately 1.4km South of the main car park.
Their address is Mount Annan Drive, Mount Annan NSW 2567. See:
Hi - I will be heading down to Mnt Annan for a training ride.
The plan is to ride one lap pretty easy just warming up, then ride the 2nd lap at a fast (almost race) pace - traffic on track permitting.
Ride the 3rd lap real easy as recovery, looking a lines in the corners etc.
4th lap will be the fastest of the day, and the 5th lap will be super easy to loosen off.
As a guide, the easier laps will be about 35mins speed. Faster will be about 25min.
In between laps, we grab a new bottle from the car, but dont hang around. This ride last week came to pretty much exactly 3hrs.
The Oaks up and back
Glenbrook station carpark.
Planning on riding up The Oaks and back tomorrow morning so I dont feel so guilty eating and drinking my way through Xmas and boxing day.
Fairly quick (for me that is, 1hr 40min odd) on the way up - cruisy home if some people want to meet us at woodford for the return trip only. If noone wants a social down, then I'll push fairly hard down too.
All welcome at either Glenbrook or Woodford.
Departing around 8:20am from Glenbrook station carpark or just after 10 at Woodford (start of the trail).
Cheers, Ian
