Glenbrook to Wentworth Falls and back - Bring waterwings!
Glenbrook station carpark.
If you're starting to think doing the Oakes is ... well ... a little ordinary - do we have a doozy for youi! Glenbrook to Wentworth Falls via Woodford, and back again. 100kms of sheer mountain biking joy!
This ride is hugely satisfying, and if you have a decent level of fitness, it HAS to be on your itenerary. It's that good. (Very personal, opinions, but I'd rate Oakes up and down a 6, this longer, round trip jaunt a 9 or 10.)
For those who haven' done a 100k mtb ride before; It's not to be trifled with, but the distance is not nearly as bad as it may sound. That said, don't be tempted to treat this as your inaugural training ride. It IS demanding. For fun and good-quality training though, it ROCKS!!
What do you need to come along on this party? A keeness to stretch yourself, reasonable fitness, decent equipment, spares to cover breakages, and sufficient fuel and liquids to get though a long, strenuous, hot day.
Plan is something like ... meet at Glenbrook car park, set off at 7:15, get back some time later, work awfully hard in between, and have more fun doing it than should ever be legally allowed!
Timings will be approximately ...
- 105 minutes to Woodford via Oakes. (Leave Glenbrook car park at 7:15am, arrive Woodford at 9.) Refuel and top up fluids.
- 120 minutes to Wentworth Falls via Ingars. (Leave Woodford at 9:10, arrive Tablelands Rd 11:10.) Refuel.
- 120 minutes to Woodford via Andersons. (Arrive 1:15pm.) Refuel and top up fluids.
- 80 minutes to Glenbrook weir - SWIM! Hey. Can't let all that fresh mountain water go to waste. Plus we've deserved it!
- Head off to the car park, aiming to get there just in time for the next train to Sydney.
You in? Don't leave having fun to someone else. Grab some for yourself! Sign up and see you Saturday.
Cheers, Adrian.

Hey, what were the creek levels like?
Hi. No idea! I thought it wise to avoid the trails this weekend, what with all the rain. (You could say I baled. ) Seriously though, you'd have to think they'd be marginal, at best.
