Hi - I will be heading down to Mnt Annan for a training ride.
The plan is to ride one lap pretty easy just warming up, then ride the 2nd lap at a fast (almost race) pace - traffic on track permitting.
Ride the 3rd lap real easy as recovery, looking a lines in the corners etc.
4th lap will be the fastest of the day, and the 5th lap will be super easy to loosen off.
As a guide, the easier laps will be about 35mins speed. Faster will be about 25min.

In between laps, we grab a new bottle from the car, but dont hang around. This ride last week came to pretty much exactly 3hrs.

If anyone is interested in coming along, you are more than welcome (obviously on the understanding that laps 2 and 4 are not in the least bit sociable). You might find it interesting if you havent trained in this way before.
Its probably not a ride for complete novices, although the nature of the track means that everyone can just ride and do their own thing.
Jenny and I do provide skills coaching courses and training programmes, but this one is a complete freebie if you can keep up to hear us discuss the lines we should take and when to brake etc etc. Eye-wink

Either way, we'll be down there riding, so maybe see you there.
I'm always happy to meet new people and have a chat.

Of course, if its wet, or likely to be wet, they shut the track, so check facebook for updates. As long as the track is open, we'll be there.

Who's in?

Will be there with my son Ethan. Looks like your slow lap (35 minutes) might be more like my race lap, but I can always take a short cut on your quick lap. Like the idea of a high intensity ride.

I'd be keen to join this but my shoulder is still causing me grief so its just more road riding for me Sad

I was thinking in going to ride there this weekend also.

Thanks to all at Mt Annan yesterday, a pretty varied bunch we were. Thanks to those who helped out the less experienced, it was very nice that we showed our roady convert that mountain bikers are friendly and look after each other.

Will ride the A line on the biggish drop next time I go. Had only prepared mentally for a roll over but after looking at it a launch is the way to go.

See you on the trails,

Al

What sort of times did you guys manage on Saturday ?
I was there friday night and my best effort was a 35.20 and 37.12 ish ....on the full race , new lap inc end loop . Better lines may have helped the overall times but better fitness would have made more difference i think
Track is in pretty good nick with a just few ruts and loose stuff too

..I was going to do a full write up of the mornings riding a bit later on today but I went a 24.10sec (although I missed out the up and back loop which is worth another 30secs - I timed it later)

I wore a helmet cam for the whole lap, so I will post up the video as soon as i get a chance too.

It was a stinker of a hot day. The track is in great condition, although the 4th (maybe 5th) corner of the loop - where the old log is there for a roll-over - is getting very soft. It needs a bit of love and repair - very easy to lose the front wheel.

Steve01 - I've got a great mid-air shot of you taking the rock jump at speed. In the air, clearing the rocks, and about to land on the dirt. I'll post it up too.

Just a quick update.
The video file is MASSIVE. Its gonna take some patience to get it onto YouTube for everyone to see. It is pretty good though, so I will persevere.

Photos will come soon too.

Finally - not posting up a ride, but heading back there on Sat (earlier this time) for a shorter ride. 3 or 4 laps (max), but none of them 'hot', just 30 - 35 mins including a few 5-6min hot efforts.
I think we'll be there from 7.30am and will take an esky and park it under a tree where we park normally.
