I don't remember seeing many photographers on the course but hoped that in my delerious state, I just didn't see them..... turns out there were bugger all out there.
I mean,... 11 photo's of me crossing the start line ???
Quality of pics doesn't look great.
Website is shockingly slow.
Very unimpressed.
Poor finish to an otherwise very well organised event.
Not only some average photography, like too slow a shutter speed, bad focus and shooting into the sun.. the images don't even appear to be processed or some look over processed.. but they are kinda cheap (price and looking)
I mentioned to my wife on the way home from the race that I only noticed one photographer out on course so didn't expect to be buying any memento's. The pic's available confirmed this as there were a few at the start and only one out on course on a flat and straight part of trail. There probably would have been another if I had been a man and ridden the bridge. Who would want to take a pic of a wuss wading through the water with his bike in the air like it was made of paper and couldn't get wet?

Poor photography and only 3 shots of me. 1 of them is blurry taken at the cattle grate before the first hill. no one around me and yet he still couldnt focus and aim? last years pics were great.
Then i guess without a number plate why would he shoot me anyway?
There are some good photos of me & a few mates in the 50km. Captured the moment quite well for us and we're happy.
I am surprised however there're weren't more photographers around the track.
Many opportunities missed but was the event restricted to one photographer? Most of it was on public space so couldn't anyone have taken photos?
ok they may miss out on a link from the event web site and direct email access but word of mouth through sites such as this would make up for it?
A thought for next year or other events...
I'd even setup a website to support it if any amateur photographers are lurking.
I couldn't find the pics. It just says pics coming. However I did find the results.
Just a warning I'm home alone and bored... lol
I did count the people in the 50km race that were from the Northern Beaches suburbs only. There were 82 out of 566 entrants. That's 14.48% of the field that live inside the beaches boundaries (Palmy - Terry Hills - Frencehs Forest - Seaforth and everything in between)
I reckon you could easily double or more than likely near triple that number if you were to include surrounding suburbs from withing a 10 min drive of the Beaches boundaries. I'm too lazy to work out what suburbs are inside that 10 mins.
It's figures like these that the local Councils needs to take note of.
Its funny but I still consider the DirtWorks to be a "local event". But in reality it is a 2 hour drive from the Northern Beaches and is not really 'local'!
What event could we host locally?
XC?
DH?
Where?
sad that there is such a large percentage from this area but the nearest event is 1 to 2 hours away...
(1 hour to Ourimbah, 1.5hr to Yarramundi, 3+ hrs to Canberra)

The photos are really average. There's 3 of me in different locations (cattle grid, flat trail and bridge) but they're not exactly what I'd call exciting action shots. Last years were so much better.
With a bit of co-operation from 2 councils and the NPWS (ooh look, a flying pig.......), a XC race based at St Ives showground and utilising the single track across to the Ryland track, out a few hundred metres on Ryland, then back along the track that runs below the gun club would be do-able. You could even extend it to include some of the short track XC course that MW use there occasionally. Could easy make a 10+ km race loop, with not a lot of work required. Plenty of facilities at the show grounds.
I wish Aurora did them again this year. Not all that impressed with these ones.
