Cannondale Prophet which is awesome, but this bike came about because of the factory race only## dual shock multi pivot DH bike.Sometimes I think Cannondale need to separate the need to show off or offer simple practicality to us the bike consumers.
oh come on mate! if they didn't find the need to 'show off' then we'd be riding round on stock standard bikes that everyone else has.
the reason i love my Cannondales is because they're different, you cant say that Lefty's, Hollowgram cranks, one peice integratin(opi) and BB30 bottom brackets are showing off and a fad can you?
I'm against propriety shocks like that one on the new Jekyll. Interestingly it was the fact that he original Jekyll needed a 'funny' shock (threaded in the middle to fit) that lead me to get rid of it.
That Scalpel looks like a real XC weapon. I'd like to ditch the Rush and get one (when I bought the Rush didn't have Yeti as my 'fun' bike). Is this years model with 100mm rear travel a better overall bet though? Hmmmm.... can anyone say, "Half price closeout?"
@muvro - yup, that was what I was trying to say. If you use a 'standard' shock (eyes both ends, compression) then in years to come you would think that one could be found. If a particular bike needs a specially made shock then replacement will be hard to find as the shock manufacturer has no reason to make them after their run for that bike is done.
Ah, yeah good call. Whether you want to simply just replace a worn unit, or even upgrade. Having a conventional shock would be a hell of a lot easier, both now and in the future.
I was having a close look at it, and it looks like it's a pull type shock?
The shock looks complex, though it probably isn't. Just looks real busy. lol
Looks like Scott have hired on Scott's design engineer. Looking at Scott's recent track record for frame failures, I'm concerned that will mean a return to the "Crack'n'fail" days. Urrgh!
Not a fan of proprietary shocks either. At least the original Jekyll's Fox units used a standard Fox seal kit. But it would be nice to be able to fit a RP23 or similar.
Anyone got a 130mm Rize frame in aluminium they want to sell?
innovation or just more far out ideas??
Cannondale are without doubt one of the most innovative bike brands around! in order to innovate you must have some "far out' ideas!
not sufficiently far out to embrace full suspension 29'ers yet tho'....

more than 10 years since its introduction... nah, it'll never last. It's just a passing eccentricity
I reckon, if the companies don't produce innovative and attractive products, we won't lust after anything, therefor we won't buy anything...
God-damn my impulsive buying habbits!
Have to say...

Go for it, you know you want to
What's a propriety shock?
Is it a shock specific to a certain model?
