Jetblack 12hr venue changed
Hi all
i received an email last night from Rocky Mtn Entern and they adv that the event is being moved from Yellomundee to Dargle Farm (outcome of meeting with NPWS).
So much for our recon rides at Yellomundee.
I've emailed RME asking them if the Dargle Farm venue is open to the public outside of race days but no response just yet.
Does anyone know if it is open to the public and if so has anyone ridden there lately?
thanks
Montana

Can anyone provide info on the course in terms of what it's like to ride, lap distance, amount of singletrack, technical nature etc? Was keen to sign up for the 12 hour but this now hangs in the balance unless this is a decent course to ride. If it's anything like del rio then I think I'll be passing on this opportunity.
this is the email that was received
Hi there JetBlack WSMTB 12 Hour racer,
Juliane and I would like to let you know that the venue for the JetBlack WSMTB 12 Hour race
2010 has changed from Yellomundee Regional Park to the fantastic new facility at Dargle
Farm. It is located at River Road, off Sackville Ferry Road and the travel distance from
Sydney will be roughly the same.
As you might know the 12 hour race at the Western Sydney MTB Club (WSMTB) hometrack at
Yellomundee Regional Park has a long history, however new rules and regulations imposed onto
us last week by NPWS (National Parks and Wildlife Service), who look after the park, have
made it impossible to stage a great race there.
Together with the WSMTB club we will now and in the future bring you the event at a new
location where you will be allowed to camp and we can allow for more than 250 riders, which
is the new limit at the old facility.
This means that the event can grow again and we look forward to welcoming you to the new
track. We will update rider briefing and the website asap but wanted to tell you first
personally.
The track at Dargle (River Road, off Sackville Ferry Road) was used several years ago for 24
hour races and we will improve on it. I went out there on Saturday and it is an absolute gem
of a track: over 12km long, lots of singletrail broken up by wider trails to allow for
overtaking, not a lot of hills, one short pinch climb and probably the best descent straight
into an event centre that's out there.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
The Rocky Trail Team
Juliane & Martin
Dargle is PP and not open outside racing
Did a few Sydney 24hr races there.
I'd liked it. Some flattish open stuff as it winds it's way up the gully, makes use of old MotoX track int he mid section which was fun. Steep sandy hill towards the end that pretty much every one walked up (think I cleared it twice) and hectic DH run down to finish.
Lots of potential there and I'm sure Martin can make improvements
Yellowmundi has better bits but on the whole I think I prefer Dargle
there goes the chance for our teams to practise!
@ Flynny - are there any other tracks that you would say were similar to Dargle and open to the public?
I rode the track on Saturday on a motorbike - lots of fun not having to pedal for change
The track will be over 12 km long with singletrail broken up by wider road which allows for easy overtaking. As a whole there won't be a lot of climbing and we will include an extra loop through beautiful bushland that has never been used before. Not nearly as technical or hard to ride as Del Rio. I brought my Garmin, but the track reading is all over the place as we walked around a lot to look for the best options. Will publish track and photos of it in the coming weeks once we get out there to clean the track up.
If you want to practise on a similar track I would head out to Yellomundee. If you are fast there you will be fast at Dargle. Bashing up tower of power will get you the legs for the 1 pinch climb at Dargle which can be ridden, but needs strength.
Will be in touch with more info soon.
Martin
@montana - I didn't get your email. Please send it again to [email protected]
Yeah Yellwmundi is probably the most similar to Dargle.
Picture the yellomundi ST snaking its way around the bottom of a long flat gully with open paddock in the middle. Throw in some moto whoops, some big table tops and some fast fire trail.
@ martin, the steepness of that pinch was never an issue but with a couple hundred riders over it it turned to sand. Could probably be fixed but it was worth every step pushing up for the run along the top and the final DH
where you one of the original builders flunny?
Hi Martin, i sent it to Juliane's email address.
we are all still looking forward to the event, a bit of a mystery circuit.
Any chance of an open day before the 14th August?
Ok - Juliane came back from Austria this morning, so still catching up with sleep etc.
The only chance really to check out the track is to come and help us build It will be real easy work as it is mainly cleaning the track rather than actually building.
Na Martin,
I had nothing to do with it
Steve H got it started, I have a feeling Mr cove had a lot of input
As I said over all I think it's a better venue and I loved the track
I'd be happy to help with any maintenance days (I attend the RNP mthly maintenance days)
will you be posting dates?

Length approx 12km
climbing approx 200m per lap
We will build at Dargle Farm this Saturday starting at 11am. If you are keen to come, help and check out the track please email me ([email protected]) and I will be in touch with details.
trails are looking good for race day. Good course layout, plenty of space for riders and support, and a new track to ride. Whilst Yellomundee is a great track, Dargle Farm will no doubt be enjoyed by everyone, looking forward to August 7th
would there be compared too Yellowmundee or is Dargle similar to the loftus ride ? Are there any pics of the place ?

Thanks for all the helping hands we got on Saturday!
After the trailbuild: the map I uploaded is very close to the actual track we will be using. We will go out there one more time to bed the track in a bit by riding it and clean up some sections in the far end of the track. No more need to build, thanks to the fantastic team we had last Saturday!
I forgot to put my Garmin in my pocket when I went for a ride but will do it next time. Elevation should be about 220m per lap and the majority of the track is fairly flat.

Well done to all that made it out there to help. Looking good!
Thanks again Rob for fixing up my posts and make them look proper! I promise I take a course with you soon
make it to the next one Martin , but I had baby sitting duties to make up for from the Saturday before !
Looks like it'll be a good and fast track. Spewin I can't make it...
and do a few laps for you Muvro or you can come to the next build day , it might be the only chance to ride it unless another race is planned there within the year
Looks like my hardtail will handle it what do u think?
Track should be pretty hardtail friendly, but for that long I always prefer suspension. Just voted "Back" as my weakest link when I ride, so I guess it's a different story if yours is a happy back.
We will be out on the trail on August 1 to groom it for the race. Send me an email if you want to come along: [email protected]
