Travel Insurance / Bike Insurance
my partner and I are about to head off on a 5 week road trip through US/Canada and are taking our bikes.
I'm researching the best option of travel insurance /bike insurance for the trip.
i wanted to get others advice/experience on what they have found to be the best value for money, value being good coverage when they have taken their bikes OS.
FYI - i have contacted my home content insurance provider as we currently have our bikes insured with them a portable items and they will cover the bikes overseas for a max of $10k for all bikes (value of our bikes will be $11k).
appreciate any advice or what to look out for when making a decision
thanks guys

I guess you are saying your home cover would pay out $10K in the event of a loss, leaving you $1K down?
Given you'll be in the US and able to pick up something nice and cheap if that happened (touch wood and all that) then I'd take the gamble that you'll be OK with this level of cover.
that's where my head is at the moment Rob, but i thought it sounded too good to be true. Will we really be covered for events/incidents that 'could' occur on the trip... ?
by the way i actually bought my bike when we were in Utah last Aug/Sept unplanned but very happy purchase
... your insurance company say? I mean, did they say if your losses were > $10K, then they would pay out $10K and that's all?
they said that would be the max but i need to read the fine print about what is covered and what is not. I looked at cyclecover today and they seem to cover your bike for damage if you are riding it - if this is the case we would be claiming regularly!!!
i need to sit down and compare the fine print. All my insurances are due at the moment (content, landlord , car etc) so it is all quiet timely to reassess who can give me the best coverage for the best price, not just through out the year but also for travelling.
