hi there fellow mountain bikers!!
As I am new to the sport and going for my first ride at Glenrock this sunday on my new hardtail I was wondering if anybody could help me with what tyre pressures I should be running??
Cheers

for everybody & all conditions maybe start high then let them down by a few pounds if you are sliding out alot don't go over 38 pound to start off
A lot will depend on that, and terrain. 35psi is a good place to start, go up or down from there. If heavier and riding rocky terrain, go up.
If riding loose terrain, if you're lighter, and there are no square-edged rocks to hit and give you pinch-flats then you can go down. Lower pressure gives more grip and control, generally at the expense of increased rolling resistance.
But I run the minimum or just above the pressure printed on the tyre. To be helpful in the front I run 30 (tubeless) rear 35 (tube)
But depends on track - that's for the dam for Terry Hills I run 40 in the rear, 35 up front because traction isn't an issue fast rolling is what i want
is what a hardtail will give you at Glenrock-do not run high PSI
If runing with tubes low 30's psi tubeless mid 20's on my hardtail i run tubeless 26 up front 30 rear but its all trail and error maddo. what time u rideing sunday?
If I ran 26 and 30, the rim would be running on the ground! The lack of specifics does not help you but your weight and tyre choice needs to be taken into account when deciding.
I will hopefully be going for a ride mid morning richo so far its just me and my son going I'm having trouble finding any takers to come with me. Might see you there aye
Cheers
Hi Mate, my suggestion, start with about 32-35. With experience, you can run a little less.
If you have the time/money/inclination, make sure you have some 2.35 tires, preferably a chunky one on the front. They soak up alot of trail chatter and you can run softer pressures.
The faster you go the more pressure you might need so you dont dent rims....pinch tubes etc...forces are multiplied the faster you go.
For Glenrock I try to run around 33 on the front, 37 on the back. Hardtail, tubeless, 72kg.
RobbieO, if you think riding Glenrock on a hardtail is bad, try riding Darkes Forest!
I'll have to go for a spin on my full susser Cannondale.
why don't you post it up as a ride so people can see it and opt in to join
i have never ridden there, if i had known about this earlier i probably would have tried to drive my ass up to newcastle to come and ride with you guys
