Hi, I'm moving to Melbourne in the new year - change of job, shame to leave Sydney but it's a great opportunity.

Anybody got info on the area, trails to do, websites or forums to check out, clubs to join, good bike shops to visit etc......

Thanks in anticipation.

Lysterfield park seems the main place to ride down there. Check out: http://lysterfieldmtb.com/ and their forum?

Don't forget the You Yangs and the fabulous trails at Forrest.

The YY's are only about half an hour from Mels and there is even a train station nearby at Lara. The trails are sandy and rocky but heaps of fun for half a day.
Take a week end to do the trails at Forrest though; These are probably the best trails outside of the Redwoods at Rotovegas with something for everyone. I'll be down there at Xmas so I may see you there if you want to meet up

not as good as Lysterfield and You Yangs but close by if you are in the inner city

I did some of these last Xmas but I think you can continue further along for quite a way

Wombat State Forest in Woodend is close to the city and trails there are almost as sweet as Forrest.
