Mini Dirtworks
One glorious winter's morn this plan sounds like a go-er... anyone else keen:
Drive up to Wisemans Ferry, park up at the East ferry, but cycle through town and go across on the West one.
Cycle up St Albans road then turn left and go up the climb to Womerah Range. This was the second climb/loop part of the 100Km Dirtworks this year. Ride this of course and blast down Jacks Track (rather than totter down after 90Ks of slog like last time).
Wonder through St Albans. Depending on the ride style and what people want - stop for a bite at the pub. Hmmm... maybe... hmmmm.
Cross the river at St Albans and head South on Settlers Road. Go up Shepherds Gully and have loads of fun on the GNR top of there. End of the fun stuff take a right and come down Western Commission (weeeeeeeeeee) and back to Wisemans Ferry. If lunch wasn't had at the pub earlier, hit one now and talk about how great the day has been.
This is about 65Km all up, and sounds like a top day.
Post some tentative dates if you feel and let's see what can be done. I'll start the bidding with June: 16/17 (weekend after the 'bra) or 23/24 (weekend before Coffs).
Come on - you know you want to!

I've got's some scores to settle in them hills... =;o)
I'd be in for this but would suggest going back down the GNR rather than left on Western Commission, I guess that's a call for the day though. And spiders? You've gotta love spiders...
Matt.
Hmmmm.... well... erm... first time I rode this (some time back), yes, it was fun.
Second time (6 weeks or so ago?) was not so. Yes, the technical drop is awesome, but the number of 'fallen trees' (or are they?) on the track was just a pain.
To be honest, on DW day, I was really enjoying the huge loop and coming from the North into 10 Mile Hollow but that's just a bit too far for your social ride.
As for Western Commission - yeah, it's a bit dull, but everyone raved about the fast, smooth firetrail drop back to the river last time, and hence the inclusion.
count me in for a mini dw, the loop coming in from the north is awesome, sure we cant twist your arm rob!
I'll be in for this one.
Evan
I'll try to get to this one.
John.
this is a good run before Coffs, but June 23/24 weekend please!!!
Tien
Sounds like a fun day out to me ,must have my new bike by then
Lock a date in so we can get organised.
We need to start considering hiring a bus with trailer so all can get to events, ride have a good time then get pissed and dropped home by the paid driver.
Hmmmmm, Rides, Beer, Driven home! (if there is a god it will happen)
Greg
of course if we did that the rides would be soooo popular one bus wouldn't be enough.
John
A couple of aging riders with some DW scores to settle - depending on the date, we will be in. 17th doesn't work, but otherwise OK.
Not sure we can keep up with you whippets but keen to try.
We might be able to offer transport to a couple of others also.
Mark
Seems weekend 23/24 is the prefered choice here, but... Jun 24 is the Woodford to Glenbrook 'race' (see Careflight Classic Anyone?).
Given that, shall I post the mini-DW up for Sat 23? Should be a nice warm up for anyone doing the Classic the following day
Doing an AR race on sunday, so 23rd is my choice...
Count me in. Just let me know the date and time and I'll be there.
Evan
Mmmh, I don't think I can do the 23rd, I have a weired feeling that I am doing the AR on the 24th and since Shaun, Murray and Matt haven't shared their "roid secret" yet I don't want to kill myself one week before Coffs.
Will have to consult my personal trainer (once I've hired one !!
Therefore I am voting for Sunday the 17th!! Much more sensible to do a long ride like this 2 weeks before Coffs instead of 1 .
