When:
Sunday, 30 January, 2011 - 08:00
Duration:
3 hours
Come Rain or Shine:
If it's raining, I won't be there.
Ride Database Entry:
Duck Hole/Terrey Hills Trail
Meeting Point:

Although we don't normally ride this trail on it's own, with a bit of road work it makes a nice loop from Terrey Hills shops (on Booralie Road) then onto Centre Track and back along the road to the shops.

That's the same as the more standard Terrey Hills rides.

-33.682365, 151.227937 (Terrey Hills Shops)
Details:

After a warmup ride from Terrey Hills Shops to the bottom of Duck Holes we'll be doing:
* four to five x 5 minute seated, low cadence climbing intervals back uphill along Duck Holes with 5 minutes recovery in between
* back to Perimeter and Long possibly with a few diversions to run out the time at endurance pace

This is Session 3 from Mark Fenner's Fitness: Training for Endurance Racing published in June '10's issue of AMB.

If you can't do the full ride time that's OK. The key part is the hill reps and the first hour thereafter.

See ya there Smiling

Get out to Quarry Track and do 5 repeats. Its only around 5 minutes up ~. I would join but I have a sore knee!

or I am a serioulsy s!@#y hill climber. 5 minutes up the clilmb on Quarry rd and I reckon you'd be challenging Jason English for world XC champ.

... imagination. Eye-wink

Hope the knee gets better and we see you at Cascades soon, mate.

Cant make this one but am keen for any future ones.....

Also do you know how can i get my hands on "Mark Fenner's Fitness: Training for Endurance Racing" - tried with AMB but no call back to get a back issue. Any chance you know if someone has posted it online?

Looking to do Angry Doctor 100km later this year and need to get fit....

I think you must be talking about a different climb though right?

... program. I think that one is aimed more at 24 Solo riders.

The AMB program is aimed at 100km events, but it worked well for me within the time I have available to train.

Thanks for the link, though. Smiling

Interested to hear how this when. Any GPS profiles?

hawkeye's picture

LOL!

I'll post up a profile when I get back from church in a couple of hours. Just need to delete first and last "laps" ... so they don't identify where I live to unwanted "visitors". I rode out there and back for a four hour 40 minute ride. We did have a few rest breaks besides the recovery in between hill intervals, so I'm not sure how much of that overall time is moving time.

Thanks to ps and doc for your company today - you kept me honest. Eye-wink

Thanks for the ride today.....it was a good little session and some great info to share. Looking forward to some further outings !

Here it is! Had to manually hack the .tcx file in a text editor to show just the Terrey Hills part of the ride, but I got there.
