Long Trail Hill - best line?

Place : The last big hill before the loop end of long trail - I have only managed to ride this a few times without putting a foot down. It is so loose I just can't seem to get any traction. The times that I have made it in the past I first head right and then traverse left on the first steep part. After that I can make it. Now I try this line all the time, but still have low percentage of success. Maybe my Crossmarks are just too worn - how are you guys going with it?

Have been struggling with this hill lately but have made it the last few times. Line was middle then left at the first step. Also tried a different gear combo. Started using the middle ring with the big back rather than the granny and 4 or 4 in. I found this gave me better control of the wheelspin.

Last time I went out there in December the surface was quite clear of rocks and it wasn't all too hard. Other times it's been unrideable. I always use granny + 30: I'm too old for the middle ring...

Good old WTB Velociraptors make heaps of difference: sort of makes up for the penalty you pay on the flats...
