I am thinking of buying a helmet camera and am looking for some advice. I have no experience of video cameras or helmet cams.

The ContourHD seems to be the pick of the bunch from the reviews I have read but it would be good to hear from people who have actually used a helmet cam.

I have been looking at these just need to find out a bit more information. Not sure about the image quality yet but less bulky then most cameras.

I have the Contour HD. I've only used it a few times, the helmet mount is a bit dodgy. Will have to sort it out for the Bash and then let you know what I think of it.

I have 1 i find it good, with a 2gb card u get 15 mins, with 8gb much better! Quality good lens captures lots, the go pro is also very good the accessories and mounting hardware are much better.

I have been doing some research with my friend into helmet cameras over the past several months and we have dicided that the GoPro Hero performs the best. For a good comparison, check out YouTube and search for things like GoPro vs Contour vs Drift etc... There are some great videos where they mount all the different cameras at the same time and show you all 3 at the same time. The major difference we have found have been with sound and colour. We believe the GoPro is unbeatable in Colour, Sound and Mounting options!

you've prolly already lashed out ... however, everything I've read seems to point to the gopro ... and better if your into other sports (surfing, skiing etc etc) the GoPro comes with its water proof case as standard, whilst the contour needs a specific case sold separately.

The mounting options seem to be better with the GoPro too ... but I haven't looked at all the options with the Contour.
