Tathra rocks
Tathra enduro is the start of a week long MTB road trip for @dicko and I.
Got through the brokeback mountain jokes from the nice accommodation lady. Tathra is a great permissive community.
Early in the year picked the 50km, (thankfully) and we got a nice welcome from John from the original owners who have agreed to a whole lot of singletrack on their land. Le mans start with a leisurely jog down the oval and onto the bike.
I was belted in the first 15km I reckon it was over 600m climbing on nice fire road, a little steep in the repeat. Settled down after that into some beautiful loamy downhills tracks. From there it was some more good downs followed by ups and downs. Angry doctor like.
Back through the event centre at 40k with 10k of brand new singletrack. Oh the climb, another long switchbacked climb but nice to ride. Into this awesome descent. Sweeping switchbacks through trees and over these narrow little bridges at full speed. Nearly there, passed by Jason English (great ambassador) on the next climb as my legs twinged. This climb was a little too much but got it done. Passed on the last down by no 2 in the 100, all good.
Can't recommend Tathra as a mtb location enough and the event had a great vibe. There were people all over the last downhills watching and cheering the riders on. Sogood.
Finished second in sIngle speed (though there were probably only 4, maybe 5 other tragics).
Great day out and on to thredbo now.
