andersons and oaks ride!
MEETING POINT HAS CHANGED FROM LAPSTONE TO EMU PLAINS!
Emu Plains Station carpark (two before Glenbrook to catch an extra downhill at the end and secure a place on the train before the Oaks mob boards at Glenbrook) to catch the 08:13 train up to Wentworth Falls.
or...
If you live between Emu Plains and Wentworth Falls, board the train in the last carriage to meet mid-journey.
or...
If you live around Wentworth Falls, we'll regroup after disembarking the train around the toilet block around 09:15, therefore you can meet us there.
(It'd be nice if you could notify me if you're meeting at the latter two points! )
The pace will be "brisk social" - This will mean a couple of stops will happen at the creeks and the helipad, though besides that I want us to be able to move along at a fairly rapid pace, so it'd be preferable to ride with people with a higher degree of fitness.
It starts with a not so pleasant part along the highway, but soon we're cruising down an unsealed road, turning into the main track (Ando's) hitting full steam down the creek (because steam will come off the breaks when we ride through the creek!), having a nice rest, looking at the beautiful valley walls on either side of us... THAT WE'RE ABOUT TO HAVE TO CLIMB UP! The challenge will be to ride the whole thing without putting a foot down.
Now for the Oaks... ups and downs until the Helipad, another rest break, and now for the great downhill... can anyone get above 60km/h?, the great singletrack, and the not-so-great uphill before raiding the pie shop.
I was hoping some locals could show me around Knapsack Reserve at the end, as I've never ridden there, though it depends on how we're feeling.
Otherwise we'll ride down (yes, another couple bonus km of downhill) Explorers Rd back to Lapstone Station, where another downward firetrail awaits us, ending at River Road. The remaining few kilometres - sort of a warm-down - will consist of a nice ride on a quiet street next to the river before returning to Emu Plains Station
See you there if you're brave!
Did this ride 6months ago when I was pretty unfit after Xmas! Would like to give it another go!

So the knees all better then
yeah Bloot
......its the rest o' me than needs fixin'!
I read that the Oaks would be pruned this weekend to maintain the track, so we'll be one of the first groups to be able to enjoy it!
I'll park at Glenbrook for this one. Don't really fancy riding some more after relaxing at the pie shop
Forecast of snow for the Blue Mtns this week...means its going to be cool so bring your ski gear!
Contrasting to the last time we did it when we had to start at 6:30 to stay out of the heat!
Will post if I am still going by 6am Sunday Morning. I am expecting very cold conditions. but if its looking wet...will bail.
Lads, Im...
In if its cold,
In if it drizzles,
Out if there are torrents of rain, did that 1 week before Dirt Works and trashed my bike, cost a bucket to get it fixed.
All I know - It's a long way back up to Wentworth Falls!
Not enough rain up here to affect the creeks yet. Rode Anderson's on Thursday - all good.
And it looks like nice warm 7 degrees C tomorrow with some showers - sort of what it was today. I'm thinking it'll JUST be ok enough for my taste - the few completely flat sections will mean that the tracks will drain relatively well...
see you brave souls out there!
Packn the car, Emu plains it is. Look fwd to meetn ya'll
Made a last minute desicion to bail out - Heard that it's been raining all night in mountains and have no interest in wrecking my bike...
Next time, of course!
What was it like out there today?
for the 10th of July for anyone dissastified with the rain spoiling todays activities! Hope to catch ya there!
I'll be interest to see how the oaks is as is doesn't look like its had that much rain there.
FYI - is was cold and it was drizzly, but the trails were in great condition, Ando's was wetter than the Oaks and the single track at the end was surprisingly dry.
