Over 18s Section?

Rob's picture

By Rob - Posted on 25 June 2007

An anonymous (well - I, and a few of you will know who I'm talking about) has posted a picture of a very nasty looking injury he received the other day.

This is sat waiting to be moderated, and to be frank, I think it's too horrific to go public.

What are the people's thoughts on this sort of thing? Do we need an over 18's (or 'tasteless') section? Or should these sick puppies ( meant in the nicest possible way Eye-wink ) stick to posting their pics on other places?

Oh, FWIW, the injured party in question seems jovial enough about the whole thing so guess he'll heal just fine. Man, it's gruesome though!

Needs to go into a "Gore Gallery" or "Crash" folder though so people know or atleast have a fair idea of what they are about to see. Get it up as quick as possible though, I'm having spag bol for dinner and this sounds like a nice entree.

My take is if they have put it up then they obviously don't have an issue. Don't use an over 18's folder or you might end up with more of those nasty photos of Garry's crack ed frame, know what I mean.

There's probably lots worse posted by the kids over on farkin. If it is posted just make sure it has an appropriated heading.

I also have no problem seeing gore on this site. Can't say I would go looking to view those pictures, but fair nuff if it is in the 'gore' section. Rob, I doubt you would need to moderate it.

Risk of injury is part of the deal. Gruesome injuries are cringe worthy and may make us feel mortal, but danger is also part of the reason we do it. I'm not one for parading my balls for all to see, but it's a pretty classic injury and story and I think people will be able to get past the gore and have a laugh about it.

Stuart M's picture

and it is the "nether" region that was injured? This should be interesting. You really should stop washing your handle bars in the shower with slippery soap (hehe)

Come on Rob, the general consensus seems to be get it up somewhere.

Well Andy it seems that there is enough interest in your injury now that photographic proof is required , you could put up a parental adisory warning for the squimish or shy fem's so come on "show us ya nutz".
But please no facial shots so we cant match the equipement with the owner.

The welcome note to our site says;

"Welcome to NoBMoB - the Northern Beaches Mountain Biking Group. Not just for the extraordinary, everybody is welcome! Just starting out? Been riding for years? Join us for our weekly social rides on Sydney's beautiful Northern Beaches"

The site is friendly, safe and "G" rated (most of the time).

Can anyone tell me how the NoBMoB Community will benefit by becoming "PG" or "M" and is the next step "R", then "XXX".

Private Messages may be a better place to distribute pictures of your nuts.

P.S. Please include me on any distribution list.

OK, so here's the deal...

I don't much approve of this kind of thing, but this is a democracy so here's how it will work: Go join the 'uncensored' group... you can view groups here:

Subscribe to uncensored and you should be able to see the said image here:

Don't look too hard, or think that could happen to you. Or you'll never ride again! Eye-wink

I didn't think it would be that big (the pic that is)
Jeez, that's a good way to do it Rob
Certainly wouldn't want to see that in the random image section
By the way, it still hurts

triage nurse. I assume you did go to the hospital to get the boys checked?

Now for details, exactly how and where and no stories about the cleaning the bike in the shower please

Bruce's picture

thats gotta hurt. Just out of interest, do you have bar ends fitted to your handle bars?

Andy Bloot's picture

The nurse took one look and got the doc. He took quite a few looks and was screwing up his face. Then he asked how my bike was! God bless him.
It happened on the Waratah track in the nat. pk. near my place. Just a quick ride. Afterwards, my bike had the shifters wedged underneath the cables and the cable housings were all broken and I couldn't shift out of the front mid cog. So I assume I hit the far handlebar (when they swung around) full speed/ full force.
I really thought I had done some serious damage.
Thankfully, there seems to be no permanent damage, but it's a bad spot to heal and still hurts like a m***f***.

Andy Bloot's picture

And absolutely no intention of getting any.
But I am getting some nicks. Riding without undies is ridiculous

Little-Ditty's picture

Well if I was the squeamish type, that would be sure to put me off my porridge.

Andy, mate, you poor devil. As a bloke, that has to be about as bad as it gets. Surely an everyday black eye would have been better. So, does that hurt when you think about girls??? Laughing out loud

alchemist's picture

Soprano? I think castrato is the term you are looking for, but i'm not going to look at the picture

to some Thai "Extreme Medical Makeovers" website. Mind you when it does heel the "sympathy" one will be, well actually no nothing would be worth that pain.

Andy Bloot's picture

But it's pretty funny (or something) as well
People's reactions are funny, and laughing helps my healing
And, as I can't think about or look at girls until the pain subsides, I need to heal quick

My heart goes out to man....what more can be said.

And I'm thinking about chess now could be a safer hobby.
Sorry to see your unfortunate accident. John

By all the comments one could think there was a testicle still stuck in the handle bar????

having said that, Heal fast then ride faster!
