More Lithgow Shenanigans...

Hello all,

I have been thinking that we never did get all those Lithgow trails completed the last time we were there. Also, the videos that Flynny has posted makes these potential trails look pretty awesome. We just have to get back there!

Having made some polite enquiries with some of you, there does appear to be some keen interest. But we really do need Flynny's help to make sure we go to the right places. Can you help us Flynny?? Eye-wink I have already taken a request for the glow worm tunnel thingy. What trails do the rest of you want to do? Let's do a weekend away!

I have identified the following as the best available weekends. But we will want to PICK ONE OPTION of the following:

OPTION 1 - pick 2 days here of the 3:
-------------------------------------
Friday 7 September (APEC public holiday)
Saturday 8 September
Sunday 9 September

OPTION 2 - pick 2 days here of the 3:
-------------------------------------
Saturday 29 September
Sunday 30 September
Monday 1 October (public holiday)

We will take our pick of the best days, based on availability. Can I get everyone's preferences??

Just post your replies here and I will see what people want. Flynny, can you let me know what you and your locals can do? Obviously we will need you at least on one of the days. We can work around your schedule (work, fam) to some extent. Smiling

At this stage, my basic plan is to stay overnight at some cheaper caravan park in Lithgow. Something that will cost you a split of about $20 each. With your pillow and sleeping bag, is that also acceptable for a cheap weekend away? Of course, you would be welcome to make your own arrangements, or drive up on the day, etc.

As far as skill level goes, I would envisage there will be some technical and fast riding on these trails. We will be trying to fit a lot of riding within a short space of time.

Lets do this!! Happy trails!! Laughing out loud

I like the idea of a weekend out there, the glow worm tunnel is near Newnes and there is also some interesting ruins from the old shale mines nearby. The 8th of sept is the 12hr so I'll vote for the 29th of sept. What do people think about camping where it's possible to have a campfire and the odd ale or three?

I'm riding the 12hr so that's me out for that weekend.

I'll double check with the minister of war and finance for the 29th.
I suggest the idea of hiring a mini bus and doing shuttle runs on at least one day, that's the best way to get in the Hassans Walls tracks, Sure you could keep riding back up but it takes the shin off the trails after the 4th or 5th time. Shuttling you can cram in 7 or 8 runs on different trails.

Any option is fine. Get out of Sydney while APEC is my thinking. I'll mention this to Clint

29-30 September now has the inside running, as it is preferable to have Flynny there. Unless some of his homies can get involved on the other days. But this is far from over. We'll get everyone's comments.

Shuttle runs at Hassans Wall is good - been there, and the Donnybrook trails were awesome fun. Sounds nice. Eye-wink

Who else? Anyone?

and that would only be for the end of September but don't let that influence you too much. I would probably only be able to make one day anyway.

Keep up the good work Ditty / Social master

Nice plan!
Am doing the Netti on the first weekend of Sept and would love some recovery the weekend after!
Count me in for the last weekend for Sept though!
