Hello!
does anyone know about this ride in New Zealand? My sister and some friends are thinking they want to do it but they don't ride - apparently they do from about 37 to 46ks per day and they are worried it will be hilly - phuleese!!
Anyway, I said I would ask as you all...

It's a rail trail! Trains don't like hills - Any hills wont be much steeper than 3% gradient (up or down)

Geeze... that countryside looks a bit barren, and no weeeeeeeeeee (erm, hills) to keep you interested. I'm sure - no, I know - there's better in NZ.

Possibly the best Pinot Noir in the world grown down there - good enuff reason if you ask me.
The ride is designed for non-riders, unlike the good stuff from the Ground Effect boys.

Recently got back from NZ and a friend of ours (works for DOC equivalent of NPWS) did a team adventure race incorporating these rail trails.....there is close to 100-150km of trail all up. And not too hard quite good trail for a beginner level or a hard out ride.

He said it would be best to do over a few days as some of the country there is quite nice to explore.
